Doug Closson writes and performs songs which range from upbeatlight rock foot tapers and ballads.

Also performs with the group: East of Shannon
performng a rish variety of music which includes Irish, Celtic, and Canadian/American folk music.

Also appears in in performances with Skip Henderson and the Starboard Watch in the SF Bay Area. Skip contributed a song to soundtrack of the 2nd Pirates of the Carribean movie so we have loyal following.

The Tannery

The Tannery was big business when this growing town was small
These days it hosts a Brew Pub and big screens fill the walls
Just too far out from downtown streets to draw the ballpark crowd
So on Tuesday nights an open mike’s allowed.

It gives a chance to hopefuls and the famous who drop by
To sing three songs or spin a yarn as life goes streaming by
From shanties of the North Sea to true love gone awry
The open mike is Tuesdays at the Tannery just of Bligh.

And the folkie sang:
Seven red-winged blackbirds glide from trees to a wooden gate
They soar and turn together which improves my morning state
I didn’t expect to see them fly so smoothly in the dawn
With the freedom to wing anywhere, they choose to fly as one.

The locals seem to tolerate the oddball in the crowd
On most nights he sits drinking ale, gentlemanly and proud
But on Tuesday nights he’s apt to be the poet venting spleen
On unsuspecting tourists visiting, just once, from Abilene.

Israel and Hezbollah agreed to ceasefire plans
While escalating battle to gain the upper hand
Children died in the rubble on strategic points of land
I guess I’ll never get it, or ever really understand

And the folkie sang

They soar and sing a chorus as they pass my morning door
I don’t often stop to listen to their singing in the dawn
With the freedom to sing anything they harmonize as one.

To be more than their daytime jobs require
