Biography

BIRTH NAME: Brian Joseph Downes

PERFORMANCE NAME: Downesy

ROLE: Singer/Songwriter, Sometime Guitarist

OTHER OCCUPATIONS/INTERESTS: Entrepreneur. Screenwriter. Amateur Thespian.

MARITAL STATUS: Married; Nancy Sullivan (May, 1993)

CHILDREN: James Brian and Alison Kelley.

HISTORY: Raised in Lowell, Massachusetts. During his school years Downesy found himself drawn to music while fumbling with the guitar. His early inspiration came from such bands as The Beatles, Deep Purple, U2, Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, Van Halen and Jimi Hendrix to name a few. Around this time he attended a weekend jam session at the home of his good friend Mike Bindas. The start up musicians did not have a singer so Downesy stepped in and has assumed the front man role ever since. Eventually the band settled into a permanent line up (Rich Cowdrey - guitars and keys; Elliott "Dodger" Cowdrey - guitars and bass; Dave "Redman" Redding - guitars; Steve Thellen - keys and programming; Dave "Spanky" LaTorre - drums).

Downesy also extends himself to other projects including the nation's premier U2 tribute show "Zootopia".

Brian and his wife, Nancy, make their home in Pelham, New Hampshire with their two children.

Some Days

Written By: Downes, Cowdrey

Some day they will come and go
some days they fade slow
some days lead you to the door
some days take you over
and leave you on the floor
When you find yourself a good day
don’t be in no hurry to let it go
some days
I just sit and watch the rain
some days
I can’t spare the change
some days
I could do with out the pain
Other days will come
and other days will go
some take you to the door
others down below
when you find yourself a good day don’t let it go
don’t let it kick you out the way
some days
I just watch the rain
some days
I could do without the pain
Some days it doesn’t change
some days will never be the same
some days here we go again
some days

Drowning Man

Written By: Downes, Cowdrey

I can’t see I’m blinded
with every step I’m reminded
visions scream in color
but my eyes are black and white
like a shadow without a light
like my last breath before I walk into the light
Drowning man
going down for the last time
drowning man
going down for the very last time
I can’t speak I’m grounded
with every move I make
visions scream I’m going under
see you when I wake
like the sun on a rainy day
I can’t see the light above
Drowning man
going down for the last time
drowning man
going down for the very last time

Reason

Written By: Downes, Cowdrey

Two hearts turning circles spin out of control
a poison stream of consciousness begins to overflow
got so much to tell you its burning through my soul
but our last words were spoken lost so long ago
We said all there is to say
maybe were better off this way
I know that someday you’ll find
reason to forgive
Nothing more to compromise
nothing more to say
inside looking outside both of us afraid
happiness is just a little less pain
friends will come and go
but our enemies remain
We said all there is to say
maybe were better off this way
I know that someday you’ll find
reason to forgive
falling from above… both of us believe
No explanation we share the blame
invisible articulation
silently unconscious
we share the blame
and the pain
We said all there is to say
maybe were better off this way
I know that someday you’ll find
reason to forgive

The Little Things

Written By: Downes, Cowdrey, Caisse

Once was a time
and I don’t know why
couldn’t find time
let it all go by
now it’s gone and
I can’t get it back
didn’t find time
didn’t make time
you said only the little things matter
but you never did tell me why
a single rose shows heart and soul
how could I have been so blind
Yesterday I let the world go by
didn’t have time
didn’t make time
watch it fall like a star from the sky
didn’t have time
didn’t make time
ah you told me
the heart could grow stronger
if I was willing to try
a single word was all I heard
it was right before my eyes
Once was a time
and I don’t know why
didn’t find time
let it all go by
now it’s gone and
I can’t get it back
didn’t find time
didn’t make time
now I know all the little things matter
but too late to realize
a winding road to find my way
to the place I let behind
