Downhome Groove

BandRockJam

Downhome Groove writes and performs genuine, original music that comes from the heart and captures the honest spirit of good times with good friends.

Biography

Downhome Groove is a troup of misfits who make their home in the Triangle area of North Carolina. Born from spontaneous acoustic jams that broke out at various parties, the band has slowly and quietly evolved into an original music powerhouse.

Our songs range in genre from Rock, Folk, Funk, Bluegrass, Jazz and Blues, but always with eye for creating a fun, danceable groove. As music fans we all have a common love for bands like The Grateful Dead, Phish, Widespread Panic, and the Allman Brothers, but our influences also range from Metallica to Del McCoury, and from Mr. Blotto to Superunloader.

We officially became a "band" in January of 2004, with a lineup that included Peter Waggoner on guitar and vocals, Eric Collins on percussion, and Frank Stephans on drums. Rob Kintner replaced Frank Stephans in September of 2004. Peter Waggoner left the band in June, 2005. Eric Collins and Rob Kintner left the band in November of 2005. Drummer Josh Feldman joined us in November of 2005.

Lyrics

The End of Time

Written By: Nick Olson

Some people move fast,
some move slow.
Some people walk down the street,
just lookin’ for a place to go.
Some drink whiskey,
and some drink wine
Some head to the mountains,
in search of that moonshine.

But it’s all right, yeah it’s all right
Wherever you go, well there you are

Sittin’ in the backyard,
Chillin’ with some friends of mine.
Hangin’ round the campfire,
Talkin’ about the end of time.
The sun came up,
and the moon went low.
So I hopped into my truck,
and drove down to México.

But it’s all right, yeah it’s all right
Wherever you go, well there you are

I never was a rich man,
but I never was quite poor.
Always managed to stay alive,
and settle up the score.
The storm moves in,
and there’s lightning in the sky.
Put the pedal to the metal baby,
there’s no time to ask me why.

Wherever you go,
well there you are.
Whether you’re on foot,
or in some big Ol’ fancy car.
Now that you know,
there’s no reason to ask.
Grab ahold of what your drinkin’,
and pour yourself another glass.

But it’s all right, yeah it’s all right
Wherever you go, well there you are

Just Like Me

Written By: Nick Olson

Headin’ into town –
Gonna party tonight
Got a good feelin’ goin’ –
Got our heads just right
Out comes the music –
Giving birth to this song
If you know the lyrics –
Come on and sing along

It’s all right if you can’t see the light,
cause it’s always shinin’.
There ain’t nowhere to go and you know,
ain't no use in tryin’.
So come on and fill your head with the dead,
just like you are flyin’.
Look deep inside and you’ll see
You’re just like me ……..

See the fires blazin’ –
Smoke fills the air
All Glassy eyed and smilin’ –
Like you just don’t care
Power to the people –
Gonna make it if we try
We’re in this all together –
Let’s hope it don’t go dry

It’s all right if you can’t see the light,
cause it’s always shinin’.
There ain’t nowhere to go and you know,
ain't no use in tryin’.
So come on and fill your head with the dead,
just like you are flyin’.
Look deep inside and you’ll see
You’re just like me ……..
