Bio
downpore’s lyrics attack urgent themes relating to emotional survival and resilience, but it’s their signature sound that etches each listening experience into the minds of thousands. downpore boasts an alliance of two seething yet melodic vocals, a roaring lead, bass, and mean 7-string guitar, as well as a drummer out to kill. Massive, moving, and modern, with a raw, edgy vibe, this artistry is born of the band’s urban working-class experiences emerging from its core, screaming for recognition in a deaf world.
downpore is constantly flooding the scene with new material. Already having released three studio CDs and two live CDs, they have sold over 4000 copies. Their fifth album, “Portrait of a Sideshow Freak,” is a 14 track story album about the life of an artist whose work is revolting and compelling at once.
At times, a vulnerable sadness penetrates the wall of anger surrounding downpore’s message. It is this sadness that today’s music audience can identify with. The message is simple: drench yourself in your own emotions – lash out, speak up, scream, sulk, dig deeply for your own truth, your own essence. Beyond the “downpore” of emotion and turmoil the urban scene is all too familiar with, downpore is ultimately about survival – as a band and as a cultural metaphor.
