The best kept secret in music

Press

Gut throat vocals, shredding guitars, rifle-fire kick drums, and chunky low end. This young heavy metal foursome from Yakima has a wide range of influences. Their music blends hardcore, death, and thrash in a way that still makes you move. Downsize has been bringing their high energy live sets, and infectious grooves to the northwest for the past three years.

Once I cranked the volume and could hear what was going on, I like what I hear. Great vocals! Tight guitar work, and very solid and precis drumwork. I'm not a huge fan of death metal, but I'm not taking away the fact that the arrangement was outstanding. Love the dynamics when the song is brought down in the middle. I'd be surprised if Relapse Records didn't snatch you in a heart beat.

Bio

Downsize has made their stamp as one of the most prominant metal acts in central washington.
"We are still around because we love what we do, and never get bored." replied Brandon Buckley as a response to why so many bands come and go in the area. "We have so much to accomplish and are having a great time in the process. We've been around for five years, we are young, and now we are all ready to make this a career."

Downsize is Rob Kallenberger (drums), Trevor Cheek (vocals), Brandon Buckley (guitars), and Aaron Tackett (bass). The band formed in Yakima, Wa through a mutual friend that was in one of Brandon's high school classes. "My friend told me about this guy that was looking for a guitar player. I spent a good six years jamming out to Pantera and other variuos cd's before I got into this band." commented Brandon. When Bandon walked in the audition he was greated by a big "WHOAH YEAH!" from none other than Trevor Cheek.
Trevor who has many death metal influences wanted to create something new and extremely heavy. Only ten minutes later the two teamed up and began writing songs.

Downsize went through many drummers when looking for the perfect match to what they were looking for."I'm a Pantera freak, and Trevor wanted a straight up blast beat drummer so we had to find someone who could do it all. It turns out Bobby (his fellow classmate) hooked us up again." states brandon. "It was just like when I auditioned. As soon as this guy set up his drums, there were no questions. Rob was our drummer whether he wanted to be or not." The band spent the following four years tightening it's sound and finding the right direction they needed to go.

In 2004 they were long past their high school stereo types and basement jamming days."At the time I was looking at it going, man, the shit we have done is cool and all,but we got to take it to the next level. I'll be twenty-one in a couple months. Let's hit the bars, let's make a damn cd." said the guitarist. That is just what they did. In the fall of 2004 they began the recording for their first independent release. As the recording got under way the bassist at the time decided to quit."He just quit showing up, not hitting the calls, so we tracked the bass without him and that was that." states Brandon. The band kept to their commitments and played their booked shows as a three piece.
Early 2005 Downsize recruited Aaron Tackett. He is a well rounded bass player that has played in many cover bands and countless originals." He seemed hesitant at first due to the fact the he was a little older, but this guy is one of us, and is the missing link to our sound." said Brandon. They have only moved foreward since then and show no signs of slowing down.

Like a bulllet train without brakes, the band has played more shows in 2005 than all their previous shows combined. They also had to order more pressings of their cd BEG FOR YOUR LIFE only three months after it was released. Downsize is currently finishing up their second album which is set to be released in the summer of 2006. The Band is also confirmed to tour the entire Western and Mid-Western states throughout July and August.
