We all come from different influences. From 70's rock all the way up to today. Downstate formed in the fall of 2001 by brothers Doug and Brian Blevins along with Brian Shingleton. They only had to look as far 2/10ths of a mile to find their singer. Jimmy Lovejoy went to high school with Brian and was added without a tryout. Josh Lawson was added in September of that year 2 weeks before they were to play their first show. 8 months later the band was booked to play X fest in Huntington WV with Hatebreed, Flaw, Clutch, 3rd Strike and many more. Downstate was invited back the next year to play with Ra, Soil , and Type O Negative plus more. In the 5 years together they have played with many bands including Nonpoint, Lacuna Coil, and Slaves on Dope. Downstate has been playing around 4 to 6 show a month for 5 years. From College parties (which are our favorite) to major venues from Atlanta to Cambridge.
