Bio

Down with Gravity is an original band from Minneapolis. The music is a unique blend of Rock, Funk and Roots music such as, Blues and World Music including Caribbean and Turkish Music. It includes Adam Teeter from The Boneshakers, J.D. from Lamont Cranston, and Serdar from the award winning Reggae/Hip Hop band, Dred I Dread. The band reflects this unique background while vocalizing the life experiences of the musicians through fusion of these diverse musical genres. Their combined touring experience covers most of the U.S. and the world. The vocal melodies are filled with sweet and memorable hooks. Their explosive rhythm section,originally from Chicago, add a solid foundation of blues and funk to anchor DWG's trademark sound. The unique guitar sound is steeped in Turkish Music, Blues and completes their unique and diverse sound. They are consistently igniting stages across the U.S.

Band Members:

Adam Teeter (Lead Vocals, Guitar):

During his career Adam performed in many bands including The Boneshakers, Charlie's Cafe and Troop of Echoes. Adam won a Battle of the Bands and had the honor of recording at Paisley Park Studios (Prince).
While with The Boneshakers he opened up for Jonny Lang and recorded with his keyboardist/songwriter, Bruce McCabe. The cd "Think About You," was a huge success. It earned a three out of four stars in the the Saint Paul Pioneer press, and received a three out of four stars on All Music Guide.com. His songs were featured on the various radio and television programs. Adam performed at the Metrodome before two Minnesota Twins games. The cd placed top ten in local sales at Best Buy.
Adam honed his songwriting and singing/guitar skills while in Charlie's Cafe. Adam's song "Follow Me," was on a primetime special, Seventeen: Faces of Fall on the WB network. The group built and maintained a loyal following.
Adam was also a founding member of Troop of Echoes. The group earned critical acclaim in the Twin Cities and the greater midwest, after performing for three years. Their cd Dispenser was Produced by Tom Garneau (Sting, Prince, The Moody Blues.) The group disbanded in 2004.
Adam's musical influences include Al Green, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Jane's Addiction, Seal, Santana, 311, Sting, Tuck Andress, The Digable Planets, Stevie Wonder, Rage Against the Machine and Zap Mama.

Serdar Guvenc (Lead Guitar, Vocals):

Serdar took his first guitar lesson from his father when he was 11 years old and since that that time he had never stopped playing.
In his early career Serdar played bass guitar in Punk Rock and Physcadelic Rock bands in his homeland, Türkiye. After hearing Jimi Hendrix playing All Along the Watchtower on the Radio he decided to focus on playing lead guitar.
He played or toured with Istanbul, Türkiye based bands such as Nihilist, 559C, Ice Cream Men and Southern Comfort. He also participated in Young Pals Turkish Rock Opera Band during his days in Ankara, Türkiye.
Serdar moved to Minnesota, USA in 1999. Fascinated by the Blues music he attended Blues Jam sessions almost seven days a week in the Twin Cities area. He then landed the guitar player position in well known Reggae/ Calypso/ Soca Bands such as Cyril Paul and the Calypso Monarchs, Iroots, Shangoya and two time Minnesota Music Awards winner Dred I Dread. Serdar has been one of the major drivers for Dred I Dread’ s success since 2002.
Serdar opened for The Wailers, Yellowman, Israel Vibration and many international acts during his career. Aside from the Caribbean music and Blues, Serdar had a chance to perform with seasoned musicians from the Twin Cities area.
He played in Turkish music band Nabiz with David Burk, David Stenshol and Mick LaBriola. Moreover, he also had the opportunity to collaborate in numerous experimental music events with David Means and Mary Garvie.
Serdar’ s musical influences include Muddy Waters, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Yavuz Çetin, Süleyman Bagcioglu, Mustafa Kandirali, Jeff Healey, Sly & Robbie, Lord Kitchener, and Deep Purple.

J.D. Sykes (Bass guitar) -

The dynamite bass player from the Chicago moved to Minneapolis in 1999 and he has toured with Lamont Cranston, Best Kept Secret, Pinetop Perkins, Jimi "Primetime" Smith, Little Milton and Sugar Blue in the past.
J.D. is considered to be one of the best bass players to perform in the Twin Cities area. His bass playing can make even a dead soul to come alive and start dancing. J.D. can touch anyones soul with his highly imaginative solid bass playing.
His influences include Larry Graham from Sly and the Family Stone and Verdine White from Earth Wind & Fire.
Trenon Graham- A Grammy award recipient with his former band Sounds of Blackness, Trenon anchors the group with his amazing rhythmic ability. He also adds vocal versatility to the group.
