Down Yesterday was originally started by 3 friends in the West Texas town of Midland; the friends consisted of two guitarist and a bassist as they began their search for a drummer and singer. Through a few friends that knew friends, they finally met up with a drummer through the popular website MySpace. After some talk and hanging out the group decided to give it a go and continue the search for a singer. Three auditions later, the group had finally found what they were looking for in a guy named Lance Welch and never looked back.
The group was formed in June 2008 and completed their lineup by October and is quickly becoming a strong up and coming act. The bands' experience is at a professional level with hard, melodic sounds that will keep you wanting to find out when the next show will be! Down Yesterday recorded their first E.P at Dallas area studio Indian Trail Recordings with 3 time Producer Of The Year Alex Gerst (Faktion,Seasons After,Fair to Midland) in March 2009 and released their self-titled E.P in May 2009 selling hundreds of copies its first night available.
The first single from the E.P. titled "Stay" became an instant hit in the West Texas area and caught the attention of radio personel from Carlsbad,NM station Mix 104, who requested copies for the station which has been aired in the eastern New Mexico area, as well as Colorado and parts of Texas. The song "Stay" also peaked at #34 out of almost 15,000 songs in the MySpace Battle of the Bands.
The band currently wrapped up The Bailout Tour with The Sammus Theory and is available through iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, and CDbaby! The group is also endorsed by Dirtbag clothing.
