Doxy

Doxy

BandAlternativeRock

Doxy. Alternative rock that makes you sing. Makes you think. Music that challenges. Intense live performers. Nine Inch Nails’ sounds, Peter Gabriel’s theatrics, Kate Bush’s etherealness, Garbage’s hooks and Freddie Mercury’s showmanship. Thought-provoking, powerful, hard-edged rock.

Biography

Doxy. 1 woman. Multiple men.

Creating alternative rock that makes you sing. Music that makes you think. Music that challenges. Musicians from outer space scaling inner space.

Formed in 2004 and based in Los Angeles, Doxy quickly grabbed attention by being named Playboy.com’s top unsigned band in America. Currently putting the finishing touches on their highly anticipated demo, Doxy will soon be retaking the stages of Southern California. In a short time, they have already held widely praised gigs at The Rainbow, The Viper Room, The Derby and the Whisky.

Doxy is fronted by the manic, charismatic and undeniably sexy Ana Lovelis. Ana’s music career has featured stints in New York’s best (and only) speed metal ukelele band as well as a solo career that resulted in songs co-written by The Matrix, Matthew Gerrard and other leading purveyors of power pop. After Ana’s CD reached #24 in Japan, she embarked upon a harder edged, more direct and thought provoking sound to fulfill her artistic ambitions. Thus, Doxy was formed. Before her transformation to the provocative artist of today was complete, she was featured on MTV’s Score. Lovelis’ over the top stage performances infuse Doxy with an unequaled energy that creates new fans whenever she takes the stage.

Doxy’s men. Necessary, but as Ana says, “Men come. Men go. What else is new?”

Doxy combines influences as disparate as Nine Inch Nails’ sounds, Peter Gabriel’s theatrics, Kate Bush’s etherealness, Garbage’s hooks and Freddie Mercury’s showmanship into a package of thought-provoking, powerful, hard-edged rock. The visual impact of Doxy is second only to their music, with melodies that lodge themselves in your brain while Ana’s rendering of the words will send you on an exploration of inner
space.

Lyrics

Sal Mineo (or rather, the highway song)

Written By: ana lovelis/noah lifschey

know what i know
and i long to become
any one of the things
you admire in me
this underhand
i have already planned
gives the air that i breathe
a constituency

left like a death
in an unmoving path
comes a blaze interfaced
with intention to save
are you afraid
i have already made
all the things that you are
an immediate grave

you don’t know what’s coming
watch me as i run you down
this is how

want what i want
yeah you never could haunt
all the beautiful things
i have drawn in my mind
festering pestering
waiting to feed
all you have left in me
is this thorn in my side
take what you see
cause there’s nothing between every glance that you chance
now it’s time to rewind

you don’t know what’s coming
watch me as i run you down

If I was A Boy

Written By: ana lovelis/russ desalvo/arnie roman

if i was a boy
i’d be a big ceo
and get rich rippin off
every slob that i own

if i was a boy
i’d pay a whole lotta cash
to watch some hot little stripper
go and wiggle her ass

if i was a boy
i’d send your sons overseas
to die for somebody’s story
that no one believes

if i was a boy
made from the y chromosome
i’d be at the mercy of my
testosterone

a girl can dream
if only that could be me

boys have all the fun
boys think they’re number one
boys they rule the world
but we all know it’s all about the girls

if i was a boy
i’d have to slip you the tongue
they’ll haul my ass off to jail
found out you were too young

if i was a boy
i’d dress you up like a girl
and make you swallow my lines
then get pissed off if you hurl
oh oh
yeah

boys have all the fun
boys think they’re number one
boys they rule the world
but we all know it’s all about the girls

ahh ahh ahh ahh

hey hey hey hey

oh if
if i was a boy
i’d be packing a piece
cause i got nothing else
to make you weak in the knees

if i was a boy
i’d fall in love with your brain
but when you open your mouth
i’d say you’re fucking insane

a girl can dream
if only that could be me~~~

boys have all the fun
boys think they’re number one
boys they call the shots
so all the girls will wanna suck their....

(boys will be boys... boys have fun have all the fun.......)

So Long

Written By: ana lovelis/kenneth enea/matt dorsey

breeze
so warm on my face
runnin away from desolate places i can’t stay
road calls to me
unraveling free from your clutches and misery

took too long to unbelong

dew
touchin my feet i finally feel something that’s real that you can’t steal
pieces of me were buried so deep breathless under your debris

i’m diggin free

took too long to unbelong to you
crossed this bridge got nothin left to
lose

losin everything when you’re findin nothin else
can’t live for love
when you’re dyin within yourself
can’t hold me down
i am way past the clouds

sun so warm on my face
carries me away
burning your fading memory
you’re dead to me

took too long to unbelong to you
took too long
to unbelong to you you you
crossed this bridge
letting go.
