Bio

Dragons of Zynth is the collaboration of Bronx born twins Aku & Akwetey Orraca-Tetteh, Queens born Devang Shah.

Raised in Cleveland, OH The OT'S began their foree into music early, Aku having trained classically since the age of 5. The fraternal twins initiated a deeper understanding of music theory and performance after studying with legendary Jazz saxophonist/flutist Yusef Lateef at Amherst.

Engaging Lateef's theories of music as an "audio-physio-psychic" experience the twins moved to NYC in the fall of 2002. Splitting time between working and gigging the twins' busy schedules sooned cross in 2003. The bros teamed up to help promote Hip-Hop soundbomber Mos Def in his debut show at the Blue-Note Jazz Club.

The brothers cite this show as an integral turning point in their musical direction. "Mos was in a Miles Davis-smooth-in-a-punk band type spirit , it was all new."

With new visions of music on the horizon The O.T.'s began experimenting with Afrobeat, classic soul orchestration and punk Rock. 2004 sessions with drummer Devang Shah helped complete the fiery sound that is now DOZ.

2005 has been an exciting year thus far for these Dragons. With their fresh dose of soul smoke, heavy rhythms, and raw punk energy, it is no surprise that rock-futurists TV on the Radio have become DOZ's biggest fans. Having recently supported TV on the Radio the Dragons were thrilled to have TVOTR's Dave Sitek and Kyp Malone help produce their debut album expected for release in 2006. Having collaborated with TVOTR, Antibalas and of late Massive Attack, Dragons of Zynth are poised to hit the world flying.

Visions of a new sonic future.
