Dr. Zakiyyah Raheem has been working in the music industry as a Music Executive since 1997 for an Indie Label, Tight 2 Def Music, in Atlanta, GA, which is owned by her son, Raheem The Dream. He is a Hip Hop Music Legend and Pioneer in the Atlanta Area since 1986.
During these years, she worked as VP of Business Affairs and was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the label. Beginning in 2013, she assisted in the re-launching of the Indie Label after her son suffered a double aneurysm in 2004 and the label went on hiatus. After the label resumed full operation, Dr. Raheem took on additional roles in the company, which involved working directly with the R&B Artists, where she developed a second love. She has learned the music business from the ground up. She is now committed to writing legendary songs thru her own unique style. She works with artists in arrangement, coaching in the studio, and selecting the "right" music composition for each song as shown in the music submitted for competition.
She is a retired educator, published Author and seasoned writer; and had been a Singer early on in her life, as well as owned a record store.. She has always had a strong love for music, therefore, she decided to explore her creative side and utilize her skills in writing; soon, the first song was born! She has not stopped since writing the first song, "Where Do We Go From Here". Since April 2013, Dr. Hitmaker has written 29 R&B songs for both male and female in her ASCAP Catalog. Of the 29 songs, 10 are now recorded by two R&B artists on Tight 2 Def Music label. She wrote 7 of the 11 tracks on the debut album, of D'Suave, entitled "Rebirth of Love" and 3 tracks on the debut album of Ms. Neka, entitled "Nekatized" (still in progress). "Rebirth of Love" by D'Suave can be found on I-Tunes, Amazon.com, Spotify, and TuneCore. etc.
Dr. Zakiyyah Raheem pka Dr. HitMaker holds the Ph.D, MPA, MSW, BS degrees. She is a retired educator and owner of a tutorial company, Back 2 Basics Tutorial, LLC.
