"Dragenfly Soars"

I'm not positive it was an attempt to convince me their band is independent, but when I received DRAGENFLY's new CD wrapped in newspaper and bound with duct tape, the phrase "indie DIY" leaped to my mind.
Dragenfly is, for lack of a better explanation, an "80s- style big bad metal machine.
Hair, hooks, and head banging are front and center on the dozen tracks of "In The Beginning."
Pat McGrain (vocals), Tom Klein (guitars), Randy Richtmyre (drums), and Karl Grom (bass) pound out the 48 minutes of mayhem on the CD.
Since the recording, Ron Blaziewske took over the reins as bass guitarist for Dragenfly.
"In The Beginning" was recorded at John Scott Studios in Kenosha. Engineering and mixing was done by John Scott and Jeff Murphy.
Dragenfly performs 10 p.m. Saturday (June 25) at Chaser's Lounge, 6313 24th Ave.
Other upcoming shows include July 1 at Scream-In Mimi's and July 15 at the Doctor's Office in West Allis.
You can find an electronic press kit (epk) with a bio, gig dates and other information at www.sonicbids.com/dragenfly.

"~TWO HORNS UP~"

Dragen Fly consists of 4 members that rock old school style. On lead Vocals is Pat. Pat puts a vintage feel to his vocals. When I first saw him I had to laugh to myself a little, because he resembles a younger Ozzy! On lead guitar Tommy has an 80's sound to his playing. With his long hair flying and fingers flailing, Tommy plays with ease. Dragen Fly is a nice change from the screaming metal I am used to listening to. On the bass is Ronnie. Ronnie has a new school look but plays with that old school sound. Dragen Fly enjoys playing to the crowd, which makes the whole night enjoyable for everyone. On the drums is Randy. He has a Tama drum set. His kit has alot of drums and symbols, it was extremely nice to see him use them all. Randy has an exelent drum solo.I will definatly be seeing this band again. I recomend that you all catch a show by Dragen Fly. All in all these old school rockers ROCK!!
Dragen Fly has a cd for sale on CD Baby all procedes go to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Bio

In the summer of 2002,former Dirty Love drummer Randy Richtmyre answered an ad posted at a local music store by Tom Klein. Tom the former guitarist with Intrepid and Bastard Cousin got together with Randy and "Dragenfly" was started. Their tastes in music were very similar and the more they played together the smoother it became. Next came former Third Rail and Wrath lead vocalist Patrick McGrain, and were later joined by former Trisect bassist Karl Grom. After a few months of rehearsals the band started playing gigs and developing a very good following because of their high energy and dynamic Rock and Roll shows. During this time period the band started to write and perform their own originals. In early 2003 the band went into the studio and recorded a four song demo that was released in 2003, and did very well in the local market.
The band played hard for the next year and a half at venues in WI. and Il. all the while still writing more original songs. In the Fall of 2004 the band took a break from doing shows and went back into the studio to record a 12 song CD "In The Beginning". When the band finished recording the CD our bassist Karl, decided to leave the band and move on to do a different project. The band now went on a long search for a new bassist.
On Jan. 9, 2005 the band welcomed former Blu Steel bassist Ronnie Blaziewske to the band. Ronnie brings to the band a whole new set of great ideas for new songs and a much higher level of energy to our fans. So keep an eye out for a follow-up CD to our debut CD "In The Beginning". Now Dragenfly is back on the road in support of their debut CD due out on 4/29/05.
On December 21, 2005 the band welcomes Jason Kent to the bands ranks. Jason brings youth and great writing ability to the band along with his awsome guitar playing.
On May 11, 2006 long time Dragenfly Guitarist Tom Klein parted ways with the band. We would like to thank Tom for many years of playing with Dragenfly through all the good times and bad. Good luck on your future endeavors wherever they may lead you.
As Tom Klein leaves the band the band welcomes Adam Schmitt on Guitars. Adam is a very talented guitarist who has played for many years with Jason and is going to a great attribute to the band. Adams and Jasons previous experience playing together with the band Scenario will impress the long time DRAGENFLY Fans.
Dragenfly is a group of seasoned musician's with many years of music under their belts, and never fail to please a crowd. Their musical influences of bands like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeath, Queensryche, Disturbed, The Beatles, Areosmith, Lynch Mob, The Rolling Stones, Yes, and Cheap Trick, can be heard in some of their Hard Rocking Originals. It also gives the band a very diversified list of Cover songs to chose from and change up the show from night to night.
