Reykjavík, Capital Region, ISL

Draumhvörf is a word made up by band members. It is made of a few dissimilar words that together make one really good one. A direct translation to English would be something akin to "Dream-reaction".

Draumhvörf was formed in 2008 by four guys in Reykjavík, Iceland. Together they wrote a few songs and played some concerts although severely lacking a bass player. In the autumn of 2009 they finally found a bass player and have since then been working hard on evolving their musical style and improving their live performances.

Draumhvörf's musical influence comes from many different sources, most notably various past and present prog-rock bands. On top of that, there is a notable influence from a wide selection of music genres, post-rock and jazz for example.

In early 2011 the guys started recording their debut EP which will hopefully be released in late 2011.
As a band Draumhvörf is a collaborative unit, writing their songs together and collaborating on their music, concepts and lyrics.
Draumhvörf have participated in various musical events in the last few years such as the Icelandic Battle of the Bands (Músíktilraunir) 2009, the Icelandic tryouts for Global Battle of the Bands 2010 and have organized concerts at Reykjavík Culture Night (Menningarnótt) for the past two years with funding from the City of Reykjavík in 2010.

Draumhvörf began recording their debut EP in early 2011 and plan to release it around Christmas the same year.

In the meantime older songs can be streamed via Myspace and Facebook and bought/downloaded via Gogoyoko.
