Whether she's on stage alone, or backed up by a star-studded PEI band, Drea pairs personal lyrics with pop hooks and impressive vocals. On her own, she attacks her songs with a voice and a guitar - aggressive strumming and picking patterns paired with a voice that can be either earnest and sweet or riddled with angst. With the band, the songs become a gritty, loud, dancy accompaniment to Drea's soaring vocals.
After self-releasing four original recordings from 2002 - 2006, Drea stepped into the "studio" with a full band to record 2009's "Between You and Me" e.p. - a six-song folk album. She then went on to form the Drea Macdonald Band. This group took their talent into a house in the woods and recorded "Let's get Lost" - a five song e.p. recorded in one day, and released online only in April, 2010.
The latest version of the band calls themselves "The Wildebeards", and together with Drea they are working on a full-length rock album to be release in early 2012.
