It is with joy that I introduce you to the voice of The Lovevolution and author of Wild Love: Kissed Into Consciousness, a volume of "songlines" by DreamingBear Baraka Kanaan, this generations poet laureate of the heart. I first experienced his transmission when going to hear Ram Dass speak at his annual Thanksgiving satsang on Maui. On stage DreamingBear is backed by Spirit Moves, an eight-piece ensemble of musicians and vocalists who conjure impromptu world-fusion soundscapes. The music is completely unrehearsed, and each musician intuitively plays in paralleled union.
The traveling concert experience called Lovevolution is a captivation synthesis of interactive audience singing, group dance, spoken-word artistry, and a variety of multimedia environments that invite the participants into internal states of ecstasy and play. Part social experiment, the Lovevolution's focus is on inspiring individual re-enchantment through the celebratory marriage of metamusic and new-paradigm language delivered with extraordinary verbal dexterity. DreamingBear's verse articulates that being conscious is the new cool. What better message for a generation seeking expansion through experience? This is not poetry as usual. Each concert with a brief ceremonial honoring of the women who are present, in which DreamingBear invites the men to verbally aknowledge the feminine energy in a kind of apology for the past and proposal for the future.
The roles are the reversed, and statements of appreciation, empowerment, and respect are sung back and fourth. Later in the concert, there's even a musical interlude dedicated to "intespecies communication", as DreamingBear calls it, involving an emotionally evocative event known as "heart-storming", wherein audience members are encouraged to reconnect with music as the soul of the universe. They are guided in a feeling of connection with nature and personal empathy with our extended earth family. DreamingBear has traveled the world extensively, speaking before audiences as diverse as international dignitaries, corporate groups, and third world refugees as well as the popular music festivals such as The Harmony Festival, Bhakti Fest, Raw Spirit Festival and alike. He has shared the stage with Lauren Hill, Reverend Michael Beckwith, Dr. Masaru Emoto, Don Miguel Ruiz, Ram Dass, Here II Here and other luminaries committed to inspire the world. DreamingBear is a frequent guest in the media and was recently featured in Common Ground Magazine as well as on the cover of Awareness Magazine. In addition to being recognized as one of the top artists of 2010 by The Artists Forum, he was also featured in Without Walls, a documentary on peace in the Middle East.
