Bio

Originally from Illinois, Drew currently lives in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. He has opened for fantastic artists such as Sophie B. Hawkins, Jay Brannan, and he has shared the stage with renowned songwriter Bill Danoff. Some other highlights:

In June 2007, Drew released a self-produced solo album. The self-titled CD is Drew’s 17-track opus, a testament to Drew’s love of folk music. With simple arrangements and lush harmonies, the album hints at contemporary artists like Damien Rice and Patty Griffin as well as traditional folk artists like Steve Goodman and John Prine. Drew released the album on his record label, Baskethouse Records.

Drew wrote the music and lyrics to the contemporary musical Cutman, which premiered at the New York Musical Theater Festival in October 2007. The musical was the only show to be optioned straight out of the festival. Cutman was Drew’s fifth collaboration with BannerNY Productions. Another BannerNY show, Lightning Field, a play for which Drew wrote and recorded five original songs, won for Outstanding Play in the New York Fringe Festival in 2005 and was recently produced in London.

Drew founded the Baskethouse Acoustic Music Series, a summer festival at the Bitter End, at which songwriters performed original songs alongside folk covers. Drew curated and hosted the popular weekly event for two summers.

In 2006 Drew was one of 12 artists to challenge themselves to write and record a song a week for the Baskethouse Song-a-Week Challenge, a popular podcast that lasted six months and, after being featured on iTunes, exposed Drew’s songs to a national audience.

Additionally, Drew has collaborated on many other successful projects. He plays piano for the Honky Tonk Happy Hour, a hipster favorite at the Lower East Side’s Living Room venue; he fronts downtown rock phenomenon
M-LAB, an art-band about to release their second CD; and he collaborated with Benny Maze on the song Utopia, released by Curvve Recordings, a dance club hit in early 2008, supported by top DJ’s such as Serge Devant.
