"No Country Presents Recap"

Last up was Americana, bread-and-butter rocker Drew Michael Blake. He and his backing band had a fast loose approach that made me think they had played together before… of course this is Music City, so the odds are just as likely they linked up two days ago and crushed their set with little or no rehearsal time. I picked up Van Morrison or Tom Petty seasoning to the backing tracks, and Drew even has a little bit of that Hozier gravitas and deep resonation in his voice that surprised me in the best ways possible.

“Did you make the most of it honey,” he sang on one number I liked in particular, before breaking off and demolishing an extra heady guitar solo. As if he was reading my mind, he opted for a Van cover, “Into The Mystic,” rocking everyone left in attendances gypsy soul. After a few more, he called it a night and he won me over as a fan in the process, as did the other two previous acts. - No Country for New Nashville

"Back of The Rack"

“The Shot. The Push. The Shove.” can be found on Drew Michael Blake’s album of the same name. It’s something like folk meets rock meets western, with an inward looking undertone to it. In this song pay attention to his lyrics, the simple melodies, and the fantastic guitar and fiddle plucking. It shows well how musicians from Nashville (there must be something in the water…) can often adroitly incorporate western and country sounds into their songs so subtly, without it becoming overbearing but also without it being unmistakable. - OurVinyl.TV

"No Country Presents Preview: Drew Michael Blake"

Getting his start in Music City in 2011, Drew Michael Blake does folk rock right, with well crafted lyrics and toe tapping rhythms. His debut EP, The Shot. The Push. The Shove., is the perfect introduction to his sound, which has recently expanded. Drew now has a steady backing band, The Belfry, which will no doubt be heavily involved with his follow up release slated for later this year. Have a taste below and get a feel in person, for another promising local that will be invading your radio airwaves soon enough. - No Country For New Nashville

Bio

Over 7 years in Nashville, Drew has gone from sleeping on couches and playing at open mic nights to sold out shows at The High Watt and two independently released records. After touring with local favorite Neulore and writing three songs on their 2014 Island Records release "Animal Evolve," Drew returned to his own music. A talented multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Drew self-produced his 2016 record "Blame The Miles Between" from his home studio, featuring friends from across Nashville such as Jesse Thompson (Forlorn Strangers), Taylor Thompson (Devon Gilfillian), Matt Scibilia (Brendan Benson, Cory Chisel, Marc Scibilia), and Adam Meisterhans (Joshua Hedley, Rozwell Kid). His songs have received airplay on Lightning 100, where he has also been chosen as artist of the week, and he has been profiled by No Country for New Nashville and OurVinyl. He currently hosts the podcast Talking Tracks and writes a daily blog on his website.
