Bio

Music in its purest form, and all things inherent to music, is what keeps Drew Nix transforming his heart into melodic poems with such a natural progression. Being born and raised in Temple Texas allowed Drew to find a southern singer/songwriting sound that blends folk and rock as if one genre is paying respect to the other. When the time was right he took his talents to the Music Capitol of the World, Austin Texas, where he successfully pursued a career in the industry under the independent label of Runt Entertainment. His passion was complimented by the musical visions of Paul Swanson and Scott Schoppert who came together to form An American Ocean. Touring the entire state of Texas, from El Paso to Corpus Christi and everywhere in between, An American Ocean was privileged to open up for Blue October, Gin Blossoms, David Allen Coe, Bob Schneider, Flyleaf, The cast of MTV's Jackass and many other well-respected musicians. The recording and release of their album “From Here” propelled memorable concerts, fanatic followers, and a slot in Austin’s esteemed South By Southwest Music Festival back in 2004. Inspired by fresh sounds and dreams larger than what Texas had to offer, Drew moved to New York in the fall of 2006.
Drew made sure to leave Austin with a tune from his solo album “A Bag of Bones”. The single, “I Feel Your Ghost”, was selected to give a promotional video for Austin City Limits (Texas’ most renown music festival) its personality for 2006. This award got him invited to perform at Austin City Limits in 2007. Currently Drew is recording his second solo album at his studio in Brooklyn, New York while still delivering his words to the ears of those eager to remember what true talent can evoke in human emotion.
