"Noosa Ripe festival does not disappoint"

Perhaps the greatest discovery of the day was a Sunshine Coast musician by the name of Drew Wilson, whose folk-like tunes had many an indy fan gasping.

Although relatively unheard of, big things can be expected. - Sunshine Coast Bulletin

Bio

Sunshine Coast singer/songwriter Drew Wilson has been slowly but surely gaining a reputation for his honest lyrics and sweet melodies and this will no doubt be highlighted further with the release and subsequent tour of his new EP “Sunshine” in early 2013.

The EP was recorded with the 70’s West Coast American scene in mind and is an accurate reflection of Wilson’s mature storytelling and contagious melodies.

Having 3 album releases behind him and a vast back catalogue of folk pop country rock tunes, Wilson has set out to finally define himself as a storyteller whose music can rightfully span genres.

The title track, “Sunshine” is a playful tune that was written about Wilson’s new baby daughter and the positive life changing effect that children can have. The instantly likeable “Make up your mind” could be everyone’s personal anthem highlighting the perils of procrastination. “Brooklyn” tells a vivid story of growing up on the wrong side of the tracks in New York City and how sometimes circumstance and choice can have drastic and damaging results. The deeply personal “I’ve got you” reminds us that sometimes opposites do attract and the closing track “Taste”, a song written for those bitten by love, builds up and finishes with an irresistible and infectious sing along and the listener wanting to press the repeat button and do it all again!

This is definitely the release that will put Wilson on a bigger map and rightfully place him as one of Queensland’s best independent songwriters.
