Bio

Goodvibe Band Biography

The combined talents of singer/songwriter Edu Valk and harmonica player Christian Marsh has lead to the formation of "Dr. Goodvibe".

• The music is an original and combustible blend of funk, blues, Latin, jazz and country.

• Edu is a unique and diverse singer songwriter whose philosophical and often satirical commentary on life openly elucidates his heart. The eternal optimist, EDU's music is raw and honest and uplifting, with comparisons as diverse as David Gray, Jack Johnson Dave Graney, Van Morrison, Lou Reed and JJ Cale – just to name a few. Nominated for Best Male vocalist in 2004, ABC Newcastle Music Awards.

• Christian’s playing will open your mind to the versatility of the harmonica. Christian’s trademark is a particularly pure and sweet tone, which he weaves through even the simplest of melodies to create lively and complex musical arrangements. He has played every idiom, from country and blues to jazz and classical, playing with many of the top artists in the music industry. Some highlights of his career include a national tour with the hit stage musical "Big River", worked as Larry Adler's harmonica technician during Adler's "Glory Of Gershwin" tour, performed Sven Libaek's Harmonica Concerto with Orchestra Nova, Newcastles Symphony Orchestra conducted by John Kellaway. Toured and recorded with "The Reason To Breathe", an ensemble lead by pianist/flautist Wu Pu Yu and pianest/producer Parris Macleod is an eclectic mix of classical and world music underpinned by the didgeridoo playing of Mark Atkins. He has won three national Hohner "Gold Harmonica” awards and has released two of his own CD's and performed as a guest artist on thirty more. He has distilled his unique sound from this wide experience.
