"Obsessed with Idris"

Next month sees the release of Idris' pet Project, a collection of songs he has written and produced himself under the moniker Driis. While many actors' forays in to the recording booth have proven to be comical...Idris manages to keep on the right side of credible... it's certainly easy to picture the cool, laid-back jazzy hip-hop track being played at clubs and wine bars - Pride Magazine

Bio

Driis is the brainchild and musical alter ego of Idris Elba. Best known for his TV and big screen outings, Hackney-born Idris is no stranger to music and has been producing and performing under various monikers for many years. With his Hollywood status reaching almost supernova heights, Idris is keen to share his musical talents with the world too in the form of his upcoming hip hop soul album ‘King Amongst Kings’.

Despite a rapidly escalating acting career Idris has always kept up his passion for music. Since the nineties, he has DJ’ed in London’s and NY’s hottest clubs and you’ll find Driis production credits on soundtracks and albums dating back to 2005, including work with Angie Stone. His reputation as a gifted producer and artist was cemented in 2007 when he supplied the intro, a sonnet, for Jay-Z’s seminal ‘American Gangster’ album. This followed his 2006 critically acclaimed ‘Big Man EP’, which blended Driis’ soulful lyrics over reggae blues, paying homage to his love of Rare Groove hip hop and Lover’s Rock.

Driis is determined that the quality of his music will speak for itself and set him apart from his Tinseltown twin.
