"Bouncing Back to Move Forward"

Pressing and defying odds is something that Baltimore Hip Hop Artist Driscoe has been known for since he was a teenager. Being diagnosed with bipolar disorder and Psychosis, Driscoe found inspiration, and hope through the creative avenue and passion for music. With the official release of his debut single " Live Your Life", the Baltimore artist realized that music honestly saved his life. Driscoe states, "Without music ,I'm not quite sure where I would be."

The millennial artist began his career in music during a detrimental time in his life. Driscoe has used music to place an attack on the stigmas society places in music.

"Music was always an outlet for me. Dealing with racing thoughts, I found music as an avenue for me to write down what I was feeling in order to cope with the racing thoughts.", says the inspiring hip hop artist. " My goal with Live Your Life and my music in general is to not only help myself but to help others. I want to show that if I can defy the odds, others can too."

With a passion to create thought-provoking lyrics and meaningful content, Driscoe is a philanthropist in his own right. The artist strives to give back by sharing his story, participating in various panels geared toward mental illness and by raising over thousands of dollars for benefit concerts upon receiving of his diagnosis.

"My goal is to use music as a tool to touch lives. I'm not here just to sell records, but to make enough money to be able to give back to the people and communities that helped my recovery."

In high school, Driscoe organized a benefit concert and raised $1000 for the unit he was hospitalized in at Sheppard Pratt. "I can't thank the team at Sheppard Pratt enough. They helped me find ways to deal with the diagnosis."

In the midst of his hospital stay, a few of his facilitators would play instrumental hip hop music for Driscoe to write to. This is what helped Driscoe organize his thoughts on paper and provide him with the opportunity to write about his experience. The artist then crafted rhymes that left listeners with a feeling of hope as he battled and recovered from his illness.

Throughout his recovery process, Driscoe was fortunate to have the love and support of his parents and friends. "I still have the box of cards that my high school business class made for me while I was in my two month hospital stay. I can't thank my business and resource teacher, Ms. McGuire enough for helping me get through the tough time. There would be days when I could just go to her office and vent and she would listen."

Driscoe also recalls the amount of medication that he was on throughout the hospitalization. "They had me on mood stabilizers with various side effects." From tremors to severe acne, Driscoe has battled to come down off of some of the medicine but still recognizes its importance. "I went from being on five meds at a time to being released with an abilify shot once a month. I am beyond thankful for my doctor, who listened when I made the request to ween off some meds."

Not only is he stable and taking his shot once a month, he's also creating some music that is touching people in a positive way. In one of his songs on his upcoming project entitled "Getaway", Driscoe shares his passion to represent for those in society that are "stigmatized and stereotyped."

"Eventually I want to have my own non profit organization for people in society that have been diagnosed with mental health issues. I want to be able to provide hope for those that are suffering. I want my story to make people realize that recovery is possible. I live by the motto 'Impact a life a day.' My goal is to impact as many lives as possible and music is my key to doing that."
