"Drive Texas"

"I was thinking about listing an upbeat new Funk find today, but then my AC broke and ATT has my phone lines messed up, so my mood was more along the lines of a Tom Waits Style vocal.

thus today I bring you Drive Texas. This sample from their new EP, Dawn Lane, is a very good representation of classic accoustic guitar with vocal and lyrics that are raw and real. Enjoy!"

Bio

The brothers Jay and Phil Mandel had been rocking for years when they teamed up with NYC guitarist Eamon Cunningham in the fall of '07 and Greg Bandolik in the summer of '08. Each member of the the band is a talented songwriter in his own right, and they are known for switching instruments mid-set.

Lead lyricist Phil Mandel is a published poet with a Master's Degree in English Literature, and prides himself on crafting intelligent, thought-provoking lyrics that skirt conventional songwriting cliche while still remaining relevant and relatable to each person who listens.

Lead Guitarist Eamon Cunningham spent several years around NYC honing his chops as the "Acoustic Madman," dazzling audiences with solo acoustic work.

Musically, the boys take a heavy influence from post-hardcore artists like Hot Water Music, Small Brown Bike, and Alkaline Trio; groove-based indie pop artists like Matt Pond PA and Spoon; smart pop rock like Weezer and R.E.M.; but the heart of their music is the fact that they grew up listening to the golden age of 90s skate punk - Bad Religion, Face to Face, Nofx, Strung Out, and Lagwagon.
