Bio

Driving the Eights is the intersection of four musicians inspired by a wide array of musical influences.

The Seattle quartet formed when Ben Lappenga and Todd Ussery were drawn together by common musical ground, and more importantly, complementary musical differences.

Soon afterwards, Driving the Eights entered the recording studio to cut tracks for their first demo. Mark Nelson, a fan of the raw material offered to record the demo in his personal studio. During the sessions, it became clear that Marks musical perspective added a new dimension to the bands sound and the duo progressed to a trio.

The bands first EP “Remembering What It Looked Like” was released in 2005, representing a collection of eight diverse songs. In the fall of 2005, Chris Doss joined-up with Ben, Todd and Mark, rounding out the current line-up of the band.

January 2007 was marked by the release of the “Reach Down Sessions”, co-produced by Driving the Eights and Tom Pfaeffle at Tank Studios, Black Diamond, WA.
