Bio

Dr. Jah and the Love Prophets deliver socially conscious, upbeat reggae and ska with a jam band flavor, and has built a loyal fan base by playing blistering shows throughout the Northeast U.S. over the past 15 years. The band builds on a foundation of solid island rhythms and fearsome fretwork, and then tops it off with powerful lyrics of love, peace and solidarity. Dr. Jah further extends reggae into new directions by adding elements from soca and psychedelia.

Dr. Jah has shared the stage with many of today’s greatest artists of reggae, ska and jamband rock, including the Wailers, Yellowman, moe., Dub Is a Weapon, John Brown’s Body, the Toasters, the Skatalites, Moon Boot Lover, Guster, Schleigho, No Outlet and many more.

Some kind words about Dr. Jah and the Love Prophets from the press, musicians and promoters:

"Great band" – Aston “Family Man” Barrett – The Wailers
"You have to see these guys to truly know what it's all about." - Live Music Beth – State Of Mind Magazine
"The wise men on the mountain" - intheaisles.net
"Greatest reggae band north of the equator" - Jim Barrett WRPI 91.5 FM
"Reggae favorites" - Metroland magazine

Fresh off a successful Amsterdam NL tour which included stops at the 17th High Times Cannabis Cup and an appearance at the prestigious AMP studios, Dr. Jah is releasing its third studio album, "Who Feels It Knows It," in March 2005. The album is a mind-blowing soulful stew of Caribbean cadences, powerful instrumental solos and mindful messages from the heart, delivered with super vocal performances and soaring harmonies. Lots of jamming, plus powerful and complex instrumental and rhythmic interplay, make this an album (and band) to watch in 2005.
