"The Argus"

"the audience were treated to a deliciously unique post-punk sound, all pounding drums and skank-inducing riffs, and a good old-fashioned stomp. Captivating the crowd from start to finish, the Dogs crafted an atmosphere of wild abandon..." -

Jess Hookway - The Argus - The Argus

"SubbaCultcha"

"a nervy delivery that creates powerful surges at the most unexpected moments... "
Jeremy Chick - - SubbaCultcha

"Sound of the Suburbs"

"If there is any justice in the world the band will not be spending that much longer playing in small intimate venues, if you're in London or near Brighton do check them out as by all reports they are even more powerful in the flesh..."
Abramson - - Sound of the Suburbs

"Latest 7"

"blindingly original songs with a force that leaves their audiences reeling"
Wendy McAngus - - Latest 7

"The Mag"

"These swampy sweaty Dogs are definitely one to look out for; not so much a breath of fresh air as an all pervading rocking stench that is guaranteed to leave you mesmerised"
Johnathan M - The Mag - The Mag

"Music News"

"You’re gonna have to watch out for these guys as they’re gonna sneak up on the scene and surprise everyone. Their music is just too good and you’d be a fool not to get on board the Drookit Dogs wagon. Watch this space..."
Cat McGovern - Music News - Music News

"Noize Makes Enemies"

"Subtle or arty this is not, but those short bursts of grunge-pop are more enjoyable than a lot of things passing as original or innovative these days"
Matthias Scherer - Noize Makes Enemies - Noize Makes Enemies

"Bull & Gate"

"Hit the spot, refreshingly difficult to pigeon hole- a rich vein of Folk has been let loose over that weighty rock momentum and finished with a post punk sheen"
Liz Tumber - Bull & Gate - Bull & Gate

"Latest 7"

"Truly original, the Drookit Dogs sound like an ancient Celtic battle in full swing. Powerful. Interesting. Glorious!" 5-Star
Billy Imrie - Latest 7 - Latest 7

"RockNWorld"

"if the Boomtown Rats were able to have their moment in the sun, the Drookit Dogs can use them as their own fire hydrant. Yes, they're that good!"
Morley - RockNWorld - RockNWorld

Bio

The band is the brainchild of MATT OLDFIELD, an extraordinarily talented young musician and songwriter. He just never stops, working as a solo artist, as banjo player with Brighton roots favourites THE MOUNTAIN FIREWORK CO., as part of folk / bluegrass duo PEACOCK COUNTY CANNIBALS and now this band, where he has struck gold. Matt's talent runs in the family; he is the son of legendary folk musician TERRY OLDFIELD, and so nephew of Sally and trillion-selling instrumental trailblazer Mike Oldfield. The folk roots are obvious in his songs, but they have unexpectedly found their true home in a blistering sonic setting. If this band does not make you grit your teeth and bob your head like an unhinged pigeon to their meaty chug, then you have no pulse. Don't miss 'em, please.
