Bio

Dropclutch exploded into the Upstate NY underground scene in April 2005 with the release of their self -titled debut album. Dropclutch have grown together as friends and musicians over the past several years. Together, they have drawn attention from thousands of fans and supporters, labels, and press worldwide. Armed with a debut EP and an insane live show, the young band proudly chooses to stick with their D.I.Y. ethic and build their following of fans and supporters on their own.

Dropclutch has had the opportunity to share the stage with many bands including Breaking Benjamin, Suicide City, Brand New Sin, Stemm, Sinaria and many more. They have played in front of many thousand fans from Washington D.C. to Buffalo, NY. As the buzz increasingly grew Dropclutch was added to many high profile shows such as the 2006 Independent Music Conference in Philadelphia, PA. The band was also invited to join Temple of Brutality (with former members of Megadeth and WASP) on a national tour in the spring of 2007. The young rockers were invited to open for Godsmack in Erie PA in June 2007 and shortly after Dropclutch was also invited to play at the Broome County Veterans Arena with Seether, Breaking Benjamin, and Three Days Grace in September 2007. Since the release of their self titled debut album, the Binghamton showmen have had amazing success touring all over the Northeast garnering massive amounts of attention. Dropclutch has developed a loyal fan base and street team that continues to grow everyday. On average, they get about 500+ hits on their website and about 50+ friend or fan requests a day on myspace.com. Their first single, “Pressure” off of their debut release was one of the most requested songs on many radio stations in the NY and PA areas before the album was even released! "It was amazing to hear that we were the number 2 requested band in the southern tier of New York. Our album hadn't been released yet and people were already digging what we were doing!" claims singer Shawn Swartwood. ''Chemical'' was 1 requested song on Guitar Center radio and was invited on a six-month rotation nationwide played several times a day in each Guitar Center store nationwide.

With their self-titled EP spreading throughout the world, radio stations worldwide consistently turn on their listeners to Dropclutch. The band was the featured artist of the month of March 2007 on Destort.com. Unsunghero.com featured Dropclutch on their website September 2007. They also have been featured on numerous local publications such as “Sound check” in the Press and Sun Bulletin.

Dropclutch defines stage energy and presence with every performance and lets it all out on stage. Shawn Swartwood's ability to seize the audience's attention and fire up a crowd differentiates Dropclutch from any other band around. Schultz's insane and flashy drumming techniques along with the VanDusen's amazing playing and energetic performances have broken apart many stages! "We love our fans more than the world...” Swartwood explains,"...every thing we do is dedicated to them, without whom we are nothing!!!".

Dropclutch has recently teamed up with producer and recording mastermind Billy Graziadei (Biohazard, Suicide City) and has since begun preproduction work on their follow-up album “The Reason” which is due for release in the summer 2007. The band continues to manage them selves but is currently looking for management. Until then, they continue to tour, write and build their following in the greater North East area.
