"Band of the Month"

"Listen to the smoky guitars that if you close your eyes will take you on a journey (where ever your mind takes you) coupled with a funk ridden back beat and Jerry Garcia tinged vocals are the elements that make up DS" - Shockwave Magazine

"Dropping Sully: Trainwreck"

Trainwreck starts off more like an acid trip than a train wreck, just sayin. "The Prologue" segues into "Always Enjoyable" which really is always enjoyable. There's a definite Grateful Dead influence here, maybe that's why I'm feeling that blotter acid I used to get at the shows. Imma break out my old tied dyed hoodie, splash on some patchouli and groove and twirl like Jerry Garcia and his nine fingers were still here amongst us. "Shine" sings about The Big Easy and New Orleans...Can this music actually be made right here in Maryland or are we in the Haight!? "Ruby" and it's up-tempo shout outs and mesmerizing guitars combined with a bit of "Kind" and possibly a tab of lysergic will keep ya rocking like an "Acid Fiend" until you're "Headed Home" with Dropping Sully. - Shockwave Magazine

"It's about the music. Period."

Play what you know and play it well. That is exactly what these guys do. Taking influences from their prior bands (i.e. LUCA, Woodswork & Cadre) they effectively blend mellow jams, jam session, funk, straight ahead rock and so much more into something totally their own. Not exactly the most entertaining live album I've heard but that doesn't matter to me. It's about the music. Period. This album was definitely a constant head bobber. I can't wait to hear more from these guys in the future. So many different rhythms within the same song kept me drawn in and drew me deeper into the music. Dropping Sully got me looking way further into each and every note. "Headed Home" led me to reflect on my life journey thus far and I realized that when on the road of life one finds exactly what they are looking for or rather it finds them once they return to where they started... home. - Shockwave Magazine

Bio

People arent sure where the band name comes from, but Dropping Sullys latest EP, Unvarnished, was hailed by one critic as by far the catchiest, most interesting unsigned live record I ever heard. These four seasoned musicians have been writing original music that can make hips shake and faces melt. Dropping Sully's sound features a funky backbeat, dynamic two guitar interplay and Jerry Garcia-tinged vocals. As a former 98 Rock Noise in the Basement Band of the Month, they have played the big and small stages to critical acclaim.

The principal protagonists are songwriters Andy Hall and Chris Wojtal who pen most of the groups material. With a catalog of over 25 original songs covering the spectrum from ballad to rocker and from singer-songwriter to jam, Dropping Sully captures many of the permutations of rock in their sound. The lyrics range from introspective explorations and social commentary to the sublime and psychedelic.

Their first review said, "It's about the music. Period."  Those words have served as Dropping Sully's mantra ever since.

Having recently released their debut EP Trainwreck and a follow up live EP Unvarnished, the group is currently playing gigs in support of those efforts winning over fans with each show. They are also writing new material in anticipation of a full-length album to be released in winter 2013.
