Drop the Shield

BandRockChristian

Drop the Shield is a project designed to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ as far as possible. The modern heavy rock sound they use generally caters to a younger audience, however, many older adults will also find likable qualities in their music.

Biography

Drop the Shield is currently a studio project originally organized in 2008. Drop the Shield was named what it is because it's time for the Christians of the world to stop hiding in the shadows, drop their shields, and start spreading the gospel to all nations, just as Jesus commanded us to do. This project was begun to take part in fulfilling that commandment.

Lyrics

Remembrance

Written By: Daniel Shields

VERSE 1
Just around the corner a man is starving on the street
Should I just pass him by or should I let him eat?
All around me people hunger for things that matter more
Will I show them the better way or will I slam the door?

CHORUS
How will I be remembered?
Will fire soon come my way?
Will I conquer the highest mountain?
Will God recognize my name?
Will I love the ones I’ve come to hate?
Will I forgive the ones who caused me pain?
And when a tombstone bears my name,
Will it be looked upon with shame?

VERSE 2
Right across the street a blind man sits at home.
Should I pretend that he’s not there and leave him all alone?
All around me blind are walking into the emptiness of night.
Will I let them wander or guide them towards the
light?

Here to Stay

Written By: Daniel Shields

VERSE 1
I’m back again Lord
It always comes so fast
I’ve failed again Lord
It never seems to last

VERSE 2
This time it’s real Lord
I turn my back no more
I worship you Lord
My broken heart is yours

CHORUS
I will stay by your side for the rest of my life
I’m so tired of straying away from your sight
As I bask in your glory and drown in your love
I’m reminded again that you watch from above

And I’m here to stay

Hiding Within Your Own Shadow

Written By: Daniel Shields

VERSE 1
Every week you sit in the same seat
Wearin' your best clothes; making sure you're seen
You stand and sing the next hymn
‘Bout how you were lost and how you found him

And you look great in their eyes
Do they know it's all a lie?

CHORUS
You Hypocrite! (x4)

VERSE 2
Then you tell us how you were broken
How things were so bad, but now they're workin’
But still to you, it's not too crude
To go around and tell about the chick you screwed

Now they know it's all a lie
Does it eat you up inside?

CHORUS
You Hypocrite! (x4)

VERSE 3
Hey happy hypocrite, stand and smile
You thought we were fooled, but all the while
We were fooling you; we weren’t sold
Those tactics were, they were getting old

CHORUS
You Hypocrite! (x4)
