"CD Review (August 2006)"

Muscular beats that smack you upside the head, guitars as edgy and menacing as a broken bottle and gruff vocals that sound like they've have been filtered through a lifetime of rotgut, regret and unfiltered Rothmans.

- Darryl Sterdan, The Winnipeg Sun - The Winnipeg Sun

"CD Review (August 2006)"

Fantastic CD! Im old enough to remember the first CDs of Led Zeppelin and Steppenwolf and I got the same kick out of listening to Hittin Wood. Authentic, uncluttered, passionate rock......brilliant work!!

- Scott Johnston, KIX-FM - KIX-FM Australia

"CD Review (August 2006)"

Lock up the bottles, and hide your daughters! An excellent throwback to the sort of down and dirty blues-rock reminiscent of some of the best rock of the early to late 70s. The tracks on this release provide evidence of something that critics are always looking out for rock and roll as played by those whose sound comes from within (as opposed to trying to sound like someone else). The moment the disc started, I felt like I should be in a grimy bar somewhere, searching my pockets for enough change for one more bourbon.

- Greg McGuire, Globe & Mail - Globe & Mail

"CD Review (November 2005)"

"Just bought the new CD from CDBABY. Excellent product! Inspiration runs from start to finish. Absolutely superb! Good rockin' blues that I will listen to many, many times. GREAT!"

-Andre Thomas (FRANCE)
- CD BABY (online)

"Praise from 'the legendary' Bo Diddley (July 2005)"

"Extremely Tasty!"

-Bo Diddley, after watching the band open for him at Coyote's Nightclub in Winnipeg on his 2005 Farewell Tour - Absurd Machine Press Release

"CD Review (January 2006)"

"Dr. Rage and the Uppercuts are from Canada but have a firm grasp of American blues rock and capture the soulful delivery of late ‘60’s and ‘70’s blues rock outfits. Populated with tremendous riff artistry and crafty percussion, this is a rhythm-and-blues masterpiece with rock-n-roll lurking at every corner."

- J-Sin - Smother Magazine (online)

"CD Review (December 2005)"

"Hittin Wood and Diamond Hard does prove that blues-rock is alive and well in Manitoba."

-Mike Warkentin - Uptown Magazine (Winnipeg)

"Band/CD Write-up (December 2005)"

"When it comes to hard-hitting blues, Dr. Rage and his Uppercuts are definitely in. Their prescription for what ails ya is their debut Hittin' Wood and Diamond Hard!"

-Winnipeg Sun - The Winnipeg Sun (Winnipeg)

"CD Review (December 2005)"

"I need a vocalist that sounds like four o'clock in the morning after a shot or two of bourbon, and [on this album] I feel that pain!"

-Radio host Howard Manshein - CJUM 101.5 FM (Winnipeg)

"CD Review (January 2006)"

"If I ever get the muscle car of my dreams these guys will definitely be playing on the stereo as I cruise down to Memphis."

- Amie Lesyk - The Projecktor (Winnipeg)

Did You See What God Did To Us?

Dr. Rage & The Uppercuts are a hard hitting, riff based Rock/Funk/Blues band based out of Winnipeg, MB, Canada. Combining raw energy and attack, with a soulful, bluesy delivery, their feel pays homage to the spirit of the late 60s and early 70s, blended with an in-your-face attitude and a high intensity sound.

Started as a 4-piece in 2005 the band took flight with a rock/blues style at the foundation of the music. During the process of discovering their sound the band quickly wrote a batch of originals and learned a few rare covers for their debut release “Hittin’ Wood & Diamond Hard”. The album was received extremely well nationally and internationally gaining favorable reviews for the band in the local scene and abroad. The band continues to add styles and flavors to their music and recently added new members Steve Silver – Bass and Dan Grapko – Rhythm Guitar. With addition of a well versed bass player and second rhythm guitar the band continues to develop a definitive sound built around hard rocking riffs and groove based rhythms.
