"Shadowband"

Larry and Rinaldo arrived in LA in the early 1980s with a White R&B band named the Hustlers. At the time they received some attention from Motown but nothing happened past the recording stage. The band imploded leaving the two on their own. Bouncing around town they played the Silverlake scene. Eventually they landed spots on Sam Kinison's original, "Wild Thing Band," which included Ted Nugent and Sam on guitars. They went on to form their own group called, "Rodney & the Kings." Their performance was a Jazz/Noise soundtrack to footage from the 80s Los Angeles Riots. L. Guitar joined the band as they moved on musically and "Drunk By Noon," was hatched. Playing absolutely no chords, L. symbolizes the soul of a sax player trapped in the body of a guitar player. Rinaldo, as a bass player could survive playing with James Brown - being that he is a solid New York R&B player. If Elvin Jones and Charlie Watts were to have a kid together it would be Larry. Most of the band's music begins as jams and from there songs form. The rise of Larry's rapping was the crowning touch to the metamorphosis that launched the band - picture Miles Davis' "Bitch's Brew" with vocals. The band strives to avoid the over used Punk beats. They are not a particularly loud band and have at times captured the interest of their audience by the sheer fact that they were a contrast to other bands on show bills. They are looking to take their rightful place in, what they see as, the South Bay Music Scene. They feel that there is something going on here and they want to be a part of it. They're out and about looking to meet bands and to add their voice to what's going on. Their recordings are only available at their shows. On Sept. 23rd the group will be performing at TJ Charly'z in Hermosa Beach. They don't have a website as of yet but you can contact them by e-mailing: dlscarano@earthlink.net or call: 310.372.8920 for booking info or to leave a message. - Shadowband
