Blending a wide range of influences into a groove that is old and new, Drunken Cat Paws has created a sound that is both danceable and listenable. This highly energized instrumental trio infuses their grooves with the freedom of jazz improvisation, the edginess of rock, and the dirty, driving rhythms of hip-hop and vintage funk. These styles are combined with Cuban, Brazilian, West African, and avant-garde harmonies and rhythms to further expand and explore their musical vision.
The band's infancy can be traced back to the rehearsal studios of Boston's Berklee College of Music where, in 2000, band founders Ryan Potter (drums) and Carsten Kranzer (guitar) knew they had a special project brewing. After migrating to the San Francisco Bay Area, the duo's inherent musical connection was enhanced with the addition of bassist Dan Yockey.
Night after night, their sonic explorations continue to intrigue and bring audiences to their feet. Dedicated to perpetually evolving their sound, Drunken Cat Paws brings a new, primal twist to the groove world.
