Bio

I create music that inspires.

My songs reflect my life experiences. I seek to entertain; however, I also desire to engage the mind and soul through story-telling and motivational chanting. I believe that music stimulates the mind, body and soul; therefore, I attempt to deliver messages that call people to action.

In addition to creating music, I served 8-years in the United States Marine Corps and I am currently completing and M.F.A in Media Arts at Long Island University.

In regard to Hip Hop culture, music is primarily consumed by vague lyrics that do not help to stimulate the mind or encourage people to push past limitations. I believe that each line in a song should have meaning. Words are my most valuable tool. I consider myself a poet, rather than a rapper.

I am inspired by artist such as Bob Marley, Jill Scott, Buju Bantan, Sizzla, Ella Andell, WyClef, Lauren Hill and Common. These artists explore controversial and morally challenging concepts through story telling. Additionally, I draw most of my inspiration from gospel music, world music and spiritual hymns.

My current project “Champion of the Bitter Sweet Rose” is an exploration of various events and mind-sets that attempt to derail us on our path to success. The project represents triumph both big and small. The goal is to present uplifting music in a style and sound that can be identified with urban communities. The sound, tempo and tone of my compositions are influenced by my spiritual and inner-city upbringing. The message is keep fighting because no one is better than you.

My creations are refreshing to listeners who are accustomed to hearing music that covers materialism. Coerced to look the part, but rarely encouraged to defy the odds, I seek to bring people hope.

I inspire.
