Bio

In today's competitive and image driven music industry, a new singer with undeniable talent and musicianship is rewriting the standard for today’s mainstream artist; his name is Desmond Sean. His bluesy, soulful tone & shocking vocal range and prowess are sure to set him apart from the average crooner. Having already been labeled as “that voice” by the legendary Greg Phillinganes and Chaka Khan, it is evident Desmond has the makings of leaving a lasting mark on the world of music.

Born in Arkansas, raised in the military town of Lawton, OK, Desmond was introduced to music by his father, who was the church’s musician, and his mother, who also sang in the choir. It was the Gospel sounds of The Winans family, Commissioned and The Clark Sisters that served as major influences and marked the beginning of Desmond’s desire to be a singer. As he grew, his love for music expanded to include more mainstream sounds and it was witnessing artists such as Boyz II Men, En Vogue, Michael Jackson, Janet, Aerosmith, Meatloaf & Madonna who confirmed for Desmond that he wanted to be more than a singer but an artist and performer on the world stage.

Desmond started his professional music career when he relocated to Atlanta, GA in 2008, as an industry background vocalist. Having the opportunities to tour the world and lend his vocals to some of music greats including Jennifer Holliday, El DeBarge, Charlie Wilson, Betty Wright, Jody Watley, Bootsy Collins, Chuck Brown and Angie Stone while also being a regular house singer on BET’s The Mo’Nique Show & Sunday Best Season 4, not only gave Desmond firsthand experience on true goings on of the music industry but fanned the flames of desire to establish his place in this world called Entertainment. It was also during this time Desmond was introduced to acting by being featured in various stage productions including Black Nativity by Tony Award nominated Kenny Leon’s True Colors Production and portraying civil rights activist Dr. Hosea Williams in the world premiere of I Dream: The Musical directed by Ms. Jasmine Guy.

Now ready to carve his own lane in music, Desmond is in the process of finishing his debut album. The leading single, Don’t Blame It on Love, was released digitally worldwide to rave reviews and can be purchased on iTunes and Amazon.com. Desmond Sean, along with his team of producers, the Hitsmiths, hope to continue in the tradition of legendary artists and producers who have blazed the trail by creating lasting, meaningful songs that transcend time and trends.

With a passion to freely express his truth, life and experiences through music, Desmond Sean showcases natural singing ability, songwriting skills and showmanship that the Soul/Pop genres were built upon. With lyrics representing realistic viewpoints of today’s consumer, Desmond adds a creative, exciting musical flair that is sure to keep the listeners entertained, inspired and wanting more.
