Bio

Darnell “D-Shokk” Brown knew he wanted to bring a unique sound to music. Growing up in Kansas City, Missouri, his father sang jazz and gospel and played the piano. At 13, D-Shokk was listening to tapes of Slick Rick and Method Man, rapping freestyles around the neighborhood and performing in elementary school talent shows. But to him, something was missing. He was tired of music sounding formulaic. So D-Shokk started making his own, mixing elements of jazz, soul and pop with hip-hop tracks. The result became an eclectic blend of mellow grooves and syrupy hooks fused with his hypnotic flow.

He continued making music through high school. After graduating, he joined the Marines, but never let go of his music dream. While in Iraq, he listened to beats he had created and wrote lyrics. After the military, he moved to Seattle, Washington and connected with a local rapper to form the duo Undeniable. In 2004, D-Shokk got his biggest break when he wrote the theme song for the Seattle Seahawks, which was played on the local radio station KUBE 93. D-Shokk co-wrote more than 30 songs for the group’s debut album “Mirage,” which was released in August 2005 under SonicWave International.

D-Shokk, now 23, lives in Los Angeles, California where he is busy working on his solo debut “The Greatest Show On Earth,” a diverse assortment of party joints and smooth, mid-tempo tracks. He is also working with several modeling agencies, and auditioning for upcoming television series and movie roles.
