BandPop

I am a singer/songwriter that believes that music is the vehicle that drives the words into the human heart and makes it take notice. My songs express things of value: life, family, friendship, community and God. Without music my life would be empty and without meaning.

Biography

I have been writing since I was 12 and recording since 1982. I have specialized in soundtracks to "books on tapes" in the 80's and 90's and now I write about life's many situations. Much of my music sounds like it could have been written as soundtracks for movies.

I also write orchestrated instrumental music to comfort, soothe and bring at peace one's mind and soul.

When Angels Cry

WHEN ANGELS CRY
Lyrics & Music by: D. Sweetman © Copyright July 28th, 2007

(verse)
Life is a mystery we’re living day to day.
So many things can happen along the way.
Moments of sadness and moments of tears,
Moments we can’t forget throughout the years.

(verse)
The day our heart’s broke, was a day a nation cried;
A day that will live on in our memories.
Remember their faces, remember their love.
We’ve got to believe they’re looking down from up above.

(chorus)
Angels cry when children die, a senseless aching pain.
Emotions I can’t hold back- my tears are falling like rain.
I know why a parent cries when innocence is lost.
People talk about resolution, but who’s counting the cost…
When angels cry.

(verse)
For those who are grieving, comfort abounds.
So many people filled with kindness all around.
How could this happen, so many question why;
a Mom and her daughters whose lives have passed us by.

(chorus)
Angels cry when children die, senseless aching pain.
Emotions I can’t hold back- my tears are falling like rain.
I know why a parent cries when innocence is lost.
People talk about resolution, but who’s counting the cost…
When angels cry.

(bridge)
I know that someday all the answers will be clear…
But for now I pray their spirits will be near.

(modulation chorus)
Angels cry when children die, senseless aching pain.
Emotions I can’t hold back- my tears are falling like rain.
I know why a parent cries when innocence is lost.
People talk about resolution, but who’s counting the cost…
When angels cry.

After All These Years

AFTER ALL THESE YEARS
© March 19, 2006, Words & Music by D. Sweetman

(verse)

Looking back at all these years and how our love has grown
The life we’ve built together, our children and our home.
And though the years may be unkind
There’s still so much love yet to find
And you’re the one that I would choose again as mine….

(chorus)

After all this time together, after all these years,
You’re still the one to share my joys and tears.
And if I had to make the choices, I made back when-
You know that I would do it all again-
‘cause after all these years our love won’t end.

(verse)

I know our time together here will one day reach it’s goal.
And just the thought of leaving you weighs heavy on my soul.
But when it’s time to close our eyes
Somewhere beyond the last sunrise
I know we’ll meet again- for true love never dies….

(chorus)

After all this time together, after all these years,
You’re still the one to share my joys and tears.
And if I had to make the choices, I made back when-
You know that I would do it all again-
‘cause after all these years our love won’t end.

(tag)

Yes after all these years our love won’t end.

Everything That's In My Heart

EVERYTHING THAT’S IN MY HEART
© September 29, 2007, Lyrics & Music by D. Sweetman

(verse)
I look back and wonder why- so many times I made you cry.
I didn’t know- I couldn’t see the way you tried to show your love for me.
We took our vows and shared our love, and rested ‘neath the stars above
I never dreamed there’d come a day that you would finally hear me say.

(chorus)
Everything that’s in my heart has come through heartache and tears.
All the roads and all the ways I’ve walked these many, many years.
In my youth I could not have known the way that love can drift apart.
But through it all I’ve given you …everything that’s in my heart.

(verse)
I’ve known joy and I’ve known pain- I’ve known sorrow that fell like rain.
I’ve bared my soul- broke my heart, watched everything I had just fall apart.
On my knees I’ve often prayed- bowed my head while music played.
Closed my eyes- lent my ear- in hopes you’re listening and you’re here.

(chorus)
Everything that’s in my heart has come through heartache and tears.
All the roads and all the ways I’ve walked these many, many years.
In my youth I could not have known the way that love can drift apart.
But through it all I’ve given you …everything that’s in my heart.

(Bridge/ Modulation)
Let the heavens shower down on me and fill my empty soul.
I can see the lightning strike- I can hear the thunder roll.

(chorus)
Everything that’s in my heart has come through heartache and tears.
All the roads and all the ways I’ve walked these many, many years.
In my youth I could not have known the way that love can drift apart.
But through it all I’ve given you- everything that’s in my heart.

(tag)
But through it all I’ve given you- everything that’s in my heart.
