"Sensuality and Rhythm"

Created six years ago Grupo D’talle’s repertoire covers traditional Cuban music, Merengue , Cumbia , Bachata and Latin American jazz. With the musical members solid education in classical music at The National School of Arst in la Habana ,Cuba and their experience in other groups ,the Grupo D’talle expresses sensuality and rhythm, in all it’s interpretations. Testimony of that is the positive reaction of the audience in their Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Quebec presentations.
D’talle has participate with success in events such as the Festival Latino Soy,The Nuit –Afrique and TLN among others. It fits here to emphasize that eight women and one man form the group. This give to D’talle a touch of distinction and beauty.
Some of its themes like “Suavecito” incite you to dance and transport the audience(like the song said)softly to a colorful Caribbean atmosphere.

"The details that count"

D’talle is a nine- member band direct from Havana, Cuba. Eight sizzling women and just one male member – to make a big impression. The meaning of D’talle is the Spanish word for detail. In Cuba it can also apply to the curves of a woman’s body.

The band is led by veteran pianist and arranger Ivette Porras Thorp, a product of the island nation’s rigorous music education system. Before coming to Canada, D’talle was very well known in Cuba. This band has been in Canada for a while. They have hit Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and several cities in BC. They have also performed in Europe, the Caribbean and many Latin American Countries. Arrangements to perform in Hong Kong and Japan are also being made.

The repertoire of D’talle is very broad. It is composed of salsa, son, rumba, cha, cha, cha, cumbia and other fuels that heat Latin blood. Their sound is pure Havana. Steamy, saucy, sometimes fast, sometimes sultry. D’talle is an eye- catching singing, dancing endorsement of the Cuban staple ‘Arroz con gris, which means ‘rice and beans’.

Their recorded evidence of their artistry is the CD ‘De La Salsa Cubana’ on BIS Music recorded in 2000, which added brass sections, sax, flute and chorus backing the singers.
It was produced by Joel Dominguez, a well renounced musician and composer who contributed in six of the songs. The best tracks are “ Suavecito”, “ En Ese Lugar,” “Algo Anda Mal”, and the fabulous traditional song “Popum de Sones” that wanders through myriad styles amid plenty of lively timba and son montuno with sorties into boleros and cumbias.

Discography

After forming in 1997, D'talle released their first CD, titled "De la Salsa Cubana" (BIS Music). The album is a musical production of quality that combines energetic measures of Cuban Salsa and Son Montuno, with forays into Boleros, Cumbia, and Timba music. One listen proves that this clearly is the hottest dance band around.
