Bio

Opening for hip-hop crew Dipset (aka Cam’ron, Juelz Santana, Jim Jones etc); at the University of Akron in Ohio, put the wheels in motion for Midwest sensation D-Tall. It was a major accomplishment for an 18 year old kid who recorded a song in his dorm room but college just wasn’t the ticket for this artist. In 2005 he packed his bags and made the long 17-hour haul to Dallas.

“The biggest risk is not to take one.” I stacked my paper up, prayed about it and just moved, just like that. I made the skip from the Midwest to the south. In 2005 I loaded up the car and drove 17 hours to Dallas alone. The only person I knew when I moved here was my grandfather. He passed away in 2007. After he passed it was me, myself and I. I was 19yrs old and at that point I could either sink or swim. It was hard at first but I chose to swim.”

With so many rappers and producers on the scene, one can get lost in the shuffle and easily put into competition with the next rapper from down the block. Its’ a lot of talent in all over the nation and in Dallas but Tall definitely feels he held his own.

“I think I have my own lane in terms of the Dallas music scene. The music speaks for its self. I don’t make dance songs but I never knock the ones that do because music is music. The dance records go hard in the club. We have a lot of hot records in Dallas but not many hot albums. I want to be that Artist out of Dallas that you see on the Cypher on the BET Awards. When they do those cyphers, you see a Miami rapper like Ace Hood, you see a New York rapper like Juelz Santana, you see a Cali rapper like Tyga but you don’t see a Dallas rapper… yet. I can hold my own in that arena. Shout out to all the upcoming Artists, especially the Triple D Artists. Its’ a lot of talent in this city.”
“I don’t just rap. I write, compose, make beats and I ghost write for other artists. Overall, I know its a lot that I don’t know. With that said, going forward I plan to continue to work hard, stay humble and stay prayed up. Its only the beginning.”

In early 2010, Tall met Dj Stevie Dee at a industry Network & took his grind to another level. With hit records like "Fly for no reason" "On my way" was featured on over 40 mixtapes nationwide. Opening up for Artists such as Dorrough, Webbie, Soulja Boy and DJ's like DJ Drama to name a few assisted in Tall gaining more exposure in several music markets. As a result, Tall began to get on the ticket for shows in Kansas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Michigan, south carolina and of course Texas. Around 3rd quarter of the year Tall dropped the "ON MY WAY" mixtape which was eventually nominated for Mixtape of the Year honors for 2010 by Networkciti.com. The mixtape reached over 25,000 downloads the first 2 months.
In 2011 he dropped a new ladies anthem single "close to you" which has gained a national appeal to radio media bases in Dallas, oklahoma, Mississippi, south carolina, Columbus, Ohio etc. D.Tall performed at Kwanzaa fest, House of Blues along with opening up for Emmy awarding Platinum Artist & Producers Play N Skillz. Tall is determined to become a house hold name in 2012 ,Gearing up to drop his anticipated "Blues skies & Yellow tape" & the growing buzz of hits like "close to you", "I LIKE IT" "FYNE" "PUT IT DOWN" "ONE NITE" sky is the only limit for him.
