D.T & Candy Biography

D.T & Candy are a British R&B duo, consisting of brothers Dean "D.T" Thomas (born March 31st, 1984) and Ryhan "Candy" Thomas (born February 9th, 1988). Natives of Birmingham, United Kingdom.

HISTORY

Early Years

When they were children, D.T & Candy grew up singing in church, (New Testament Church Of God) on the junior choir with their other siblings Andrew & Reece Thomas. At the ages of 14 & 10, they both entered a national talent contest which was publicised throughout the country where they performed "All My Life" by their equivalents K-Ci & JoJo. They managed to wow the judges and won the contest. As teenagers, they both seperatley went through their own roller coaster journeys & life experiences which hindered them to get together musically, but years later the 2 brothers openly talked about reuniting & performing together as a group. They both took this on board & both decided to reform on a serious & professional level as D.T & Candy.

When D.T was 18, he entered a competition called Urban voice in which they look for the "Stars of tomorrow".
D.T sailed all the way through to the end, winning first place and 3 out of 4 nominated categories.

- Best Male
- Best R&B
- Best Performance

The talent search created a major buzz for D.T in his home town of Birmingham, London & certain parts of the U.K. After this event he started to gain huge interest from major labels, including well renowned A&R Chris Rock.
The nearer it got to having the designated meeting with Island Universal, there were a few personal issues that occurred along the way preventing D.T to accomplish his childhood dream of signing & securing a recording deal.

Candy played academy level football for Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Bromwich Albion & Aston Villa. Whilst in training a major knee injury forced him to give up football.
He then refocused his mind back to music, where he realised he felt most at home.
When Candy was 15, he was a founding member & producer of the U.K, hip-hop & grime group N.O.D.B. Who are now known as one of the U.K's most recognised grime groups.
He built up a reputation as one of the midlands best producers & up until today his catalogue of work is still over flowing.

Achievements

Together the brothers have released 3 mix-tapes independently from their own label, "Sweetshop Entertainment", which is apart of their company "T&T (Thomas & Thomas) Music Group".
They have toured with major U.S artists, traveling the lengths of the country continuously performing their catalogue of songs, appearing on both regional & national radio shows & having major airplay.
In 2006 they were picked as one of Lemar's top 4 unsigned U.K artists, where they performed live in front of him at Maida Vale studios, London. Courtesy of BBC 1xtra.
In 2007 D.T & Candy won a competition hosted by MTV & Hugo Boss which lead them to work with established producers, Morgan and U.K soul singer & producer Don-E, gaining them their very first single release called "Up Close", with the B-side "I.O.U (My love)", available for download on itunes.

After a long awaited break revamping, the two brothers are back in the studio & are currently working on their 1st mainstream release called Club Night, along with their long awaited video.
