Biography

David T. Carter
David T. Carter's owes his complex simplicity and the creativity of his style to the finely crafted country/pop tunes of the fifties and sixties. There is a significant level of sophistication mined from jazz artistry of the same eras. The passionate urgency found in most gypsy and klezmer music has followed a convoluted pathway into David's reportoire and become an important texture in the fabric of the sound. His "classic" music is infused with everything from Oriental sounds to Latin beats. All of these elements combined, are the reason David T. Carter succeeds at reaching audiences from two to eighty-two, in venues that are generally genre/niche oriented. The music is moody, honest, romantic, quirky, fun and carries a compassionate message about the human condition.

“There are any number of organizations in our world that, either by design or by accident, tend to exclude or encourage exclusivity”. “I believe the reason this music crosses age, gender, political and lifestyle boundaries is that it’s all about inclusion!”. “In my humble opinion, it doesn’t matter what ‘….ism’s’ you subscribe to, you’re still part of a village”.

Honeymoon in Las Vegas

Written By: David T. Carter

Honeymoon in Las Vegas

A honeymoon, in Las Vegas
Don’t need no ticket, let the night take us
Loose slots, tight dealers
The hungry dog’s and the lucky beavers

Everybody’s got something to hide
They all wanna know what’s inside your mind
The last card into the deck
Could be a loser or his so far ahead
So take a lovers ride into the end of the night
Let the cards pick the winners
And the losers all die

This is a romance on location
In Las Vegas,a honeymoon in Las Vegas

A honeymoon in Las Vegas
Are you a winner or a loser baby
With ya poker face and ya aces loaded
Nobody wins until the hand is folded

But with ya gun strapped under ya belt
If it’s the joker you get,hey what the hell
You just load him with a pocket of lead
And let riddle all inside his head

Then take a lovers ride into the end of the night
Let the cards pick the winners
And the losers all die

This is a romance on location
In Las Vegas, a honeymoon in Las Vegas

A honeymoon in Las Vegas
Ya hit the jackpot or ya loose all ya money
Love is cold, cold as the money
The game is hot, but is he really your honey

So just be careful of the cards that you get
Cause it’s the ones you don’t
That might be the bet
Cause rent is high and love is just an old theme
They try to sell you on a movie screen

Just take a lovers ride into the end of the night
Let the cards pick the winners
And the losers all die

This is a romance on location
In Las Vegas, a honeymoon in Las Vegas

Everyone's A Winner

EVERYONE’S A WINNER IN THIS TOWN
© 2001

Everyone’s a winner in this town
Come on in and shake it loose
And spread your love around
Everyone’s a winner in this town
We’re riding six white ponies
Talkin’ horses all around

Everyone’s a winner in this town
Didn’t someone tell you
You can’t fall far down
There’s a rumble in the jungle
There’s a monkey on the back
Of the flop eared mule
And you’re the flop eared mule

If only you had juice to buy the money
You’d take a trip to higher ground where honey
Would soothe your lips, like a sugar kiss but buddy
Your chompin’ on the brittle bits
Like a baby on his mama’s tits
But, everybody knows, you ain’t nobody’s fool

Cause everyone’s a winner in this town
We’re junkies for the bitter pill
And everybody’s high
Everyone’s a winner in this town
Just load ‘em up with monkey shit
And let ‘em tow the line

Everyone’s a winner in this town
Sinners make good winners
Losers make the winners ride
There’s a rumble in the jungle
There’s a monkey on the back
Of the flop eared mule
And you’re the flop eared mule

I wanna be the light, be the light, shinin’ on the light
Wanna turn it on now, turn it on now
I wanna be the light, be the light, shinin’ on the light
Wanna turn it on now, turn it on now
Wanna be hot, hot, hot, hot, hot, hot
Wanna drive the biggest car, everyone want to drive the biggest car

So, gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme money
So, gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme money
So, gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme money
So, gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme money

If only you had juice to buy the money
You’d take a trip to higher ground where honey
Would soothe your lips like a sugar kiss but buddy
Your chompin’ on the brittle bits
Like a baby on his mama’s tits
But, everybody knows, you ain’t nobody’s fool

Everyone’s a winner in this town
Come on in and shake it loose
And spread your love around
Everyone’s a winner in this town

Talkin’ horses all around

Everyone’s a winner in this town
Didn’t someone tell you
You can’t fall far down
There’s a rumble in the jungle
There’s a monkey on the back
Of the flop eared mule, and you’re the flop eared mule

The NightWatchman

THE NIGHTWATCHMAN

The price of love is rising everywhere around

Winners count their love

And losers make their way

You know how it feels to be

Broken and despaired

Darlin’ I know, ‘cause I’ve been lonesome too

The thieves surround the darkness

They wanna feed on your happiness

And steal your dreams, ‘til you don’t care no more

Love is just as critical as money in the bank

Money’s tight as hell, and love is twice as hard

When the robbers of the night come runnin’

Rapping’ at your door, darlin’ I’ll be

Your Nightwatchman

The Nightwatchman’s watching everyone around

He’s got a torch and gun

And a hide as big as hell

You know how it feels to be

Sleepin’ all alone, darlin’ I know

‘Cause I’ve been lonesome too
