"Dough the Freshkid Gives Back To His Community In Holiday Giveaway"

Rapper DoughTheFreshkidis excited to announce that he hosted his second annual turkey giveaway in a bid to foster community and honor this year’s Thanksgiving Holiday. Dough ecstatically teamed up with Epic Music Group to hand out five hundred turkeys and unlimited canned foods to members of the community. Hosted at Tal’s Café on 2701 W. Florence Ave., Dough attributed this gesture of generosity to learning values from his family and older members in his neighborhood while he was young.

“It's no better feeling than giving back to the neighborhood you grew up in,” he said. “Growing up as a kid, I always told myself that I wanted to be legendary coming out of my section. I remember the big homies would give us dollars to go to the store to buy candy when we were kids. I said one day it's gonna be my turn and I will have to do the same thing or even more. I was also inspired by people like Bumpy Johnson from Harlem who took a lot from his community, but also put so much back into it. He gave out Turkeys during the holiday season for years. Also, my Mom's taught me and brother to always share our blessings with others because that's what God values most.”

Dough teamed up with his family members and sections of the community to successfully pull the event that was a huge success. He vows to continue being a vessel of leadership, honor, and empathy.

“Well to be honest, I don't really celebrate Thanksgiving,” Dough said. “I celebrate family togetherness, friendship, life and positive spirits and energy. However, I love the feeling of the holiday season because you can feel the happiness in the world. This is something that I strive to have daily. I tell people to live everyday like it's their favorite holiday.”

This act of kindness is something that he hopes to continue annually and throughout the holiday season. A big reason why he started it was because of the things he experienced as a kid.

“Growing up as a kid, my grandmother always cooked during this time and all my cousins and family would come together,” he explained. “All of us kids would have so much fun playing games, playing outside, listening to music and watching the grown folks dance and just have a great time. So, that's why I love to give back during this time. It gives me the feeling I once had as a kid and I can also see the joy of the other people around me. You never know what someone else is going through, a Turkey, canned goods could actually feed a family who probably couldn't afford it at this time.” - The Breakfast Club

"Dough the Freshkid -Keys"

Rapper, visionary, and philanthropist Dough The Freshkid, also known as DTFK, releases his overly due album “K.E.Y.S” that is abbreviated as “Keep Evolving Your Self”.

With a weighty title and an even more demanding cover art that portrays him in a Tuxedo with just as elegant of a woman by his rib and a grand piano to the rear of him, the message is clear – a Black man can make it out of the difficult circumstances and overcome their travails to become a man of honor.

“As an independent artist, I’m trying to show growth through my business moves, attitude and music. The whole goal is to continue to grow and become better than you were yesterday,” he accentuated of the projects’ goal.
The music is upper echelon and the raps are frank, convicted, believable, and exquisitely first rate.

Admirably, Dough who is a pillar in the Crenshaw community through his annual give-aways proficiently reflects on his journey in the music tackling common themes that occur in the Crenshaw community, but from a vantage point of overcoming the hazards many of the youth encounter.

On “Throw Up”, he cuts across Gang Culture, on “Whip It”, he magnifies allure of selling drugs as a means to shorthand poverty, but in very fun and enjoyable fashion (we smell a TikTok from this song), on “Checc N”, he alludes to the territorial aspect of Hip Hop regionalism where outsiders are required to be validated before walking into certain areas, on “Rich Blacks” he speaks on the growth and unity the black race should practice rather than the division through gang-affiliation, and so on.

Usually, projects that delve into the socio-cultural facets of community end up being preachy and judgemental, but DTFK bypasses these notions and quashes the stereotypes breezing through what is one of the most heralded 2022 projects so far in regards to continuity, cohesion, quality, and performance.

“It’s actually 2 songs in particular, “Chandeliers” and the self title “Keys” song. But the entire album is Dope, probably my best project to date” when we asked him what his favorite records were.

The staunch supporter of self-improvement through financial wellness and business has also teased more to suffice from the visual side of the project.

“We really took our time with Keys so we don’t just want to end it here with just music. Hopefully, later in the year, I could bring the world a 7-part video movie series of Keys. We’ve already started production” he mentions of not downing the tools just yet. - All HipHop

"Los Angeles artist Dough the Freshkid shares "Blow" music video"

Dough the Freshkid recently dropped the cinematic visual for “Blow,” ft. Cuzzy Capone and Wee Dogg. The visual, which was completely filmed in black and white, showcases a new level of creativity coming from Dough. His storytelling skills and abilities shine through powerfully in this song and prove how the independent artist can deliver a poetic sound every time.

Standing out from other mainstream artists, Dough the Freshkid is somebody who’s skills and talents don’t go unnoticed. From his clever lyricism to his metaphoric wordplay, the Crenshaw District native has consistently delivered powerful content and music that is at its core – hip-hop.

“Blow” is from his latest project Tals Café, and is one song from the album that serves as a standout track that details his upbringing. The visual has a movie-like feel to it and takes place in the 1940s. Fellow Crenshaw District natives Cuzzy Capone and Wee Dogg (All Money In labelmates) accompany Dough on the track to help tell the story of the times when people were making livings off selling “Blow.” - Thisis50.com

[Intro]
(Just like a ship)
Without a sail
(Without a sail)
Just like a ship
(Just like a ship)
Without a sail
(Without a sail)
But I'm not worried because I know
(But I know we can take it)
I know
(But I know we can take it)
I know we can shake it
(But I know we can take it)
I know we can take it
(But I know we can take it)

[Verse 1]
Look, you seen what they did to Bill
Anybody can get killed he wrote it in his will
What happened to that bill on Capitol Hill?
I always wanted to live with Mr. Drumman
I had different strokes my pen game common
These are after bars so we say cheers
So won’t you open the door Mr. Belvedere
I got strong roots so call me Kunta Kinte
My name ain’t Toby, you can get 60 like Kobe
Put a hole in ya head like Ginobili, and I’m an ‘80s baby
So you can get the shinobi, you don’t know me
I wish Nip never signed, it get deeper with time
If you keep talking they gon do you like Gregory Hines
Skulls and bones, skeletons and thrones, but you can’t come back home
[Verse 2]
Illuminated your face, it’s a disgrace
They erased everything you put in place
The devil is a liar, and alive
And it’s the same dude that gave you that dap
You know that high five
Shit was a walk-up not a drive by
I told y’all the revolution would not be televised
Cause gentrification is the medication
But all we wanted to do was show dedication before the elevation
But here’s they manifestation
I heard money is the root of all evil
So what’s your destination?
I told them I was gon rock the nation before my proclamation
Open up the gates but I'm still a slave
Walk among kings but I'm still afraid
It’s the sacrifice for the afterlife
We need holy water from the pastor’s wife
Because my soul's on ice
It’s good to have strong enemies, but we really need a remedy
This is worse than Kennedy
May god bless your soul for an infinity
Prolific Hussle

"Dough the Freshkid Talks Evolution And New Album "Tal's Cafe""

What’s your favorite track off the new joint?

To be honest, it’s really hard for me to say. I don’t have one favorite. The album is dope. I love a lot of the songs. I’ll say my top 3 songs to me and I’m reaching is “Your Welcome”, “My Devotion” and “Keep On Hustlin”, but like I said, the whole album is crazy…. my order could change daily.

What’s the evolution of DTFK like since your last album?

My supporter numbers are increasing, from the continuous flights I’m taking throughout the states connecting with other independent artists and making plays. I have officially established my label EPC Music Group LLC and brought on a new team of producers and directors. I’m building up my network with radio, DJs, media and promoters. I’m in the process of putting my first national tour together.

Any features and producers on here you want to mention?

You know I gotta show love to my people. so starting off with my sisters Lil Moma, Signature, Juanialys; my brothers Wee Dogg, Cuzzy Capone, Compton Menace, Winkloc, 1 Shot Dealz, Snubbs, Southside Yoko, Big B, Harlem Fatts, King Braize and that singing motherf*cker Danny Boy (like 2Pac said)… Knaw my boy Devin Bhana’e. That’s all the features on my album and if I forgot anybody, you know I didn’t mean it (may Allah forgive me). A big shout-out to my producer Val, my brother Furious even though your not on this album, he family, my childhood friend Chordz mixing down some songs and I recorded a few in his studio, my brother Bates c’mon bro you know my sound and my first producer NG and Phenom. I got some new producers on this album but, they gotta put in some work first before I give them shout-outs, don’t want them getting too comfortable, gotta stay hungry in this game.

What will the first single be?

So, I’m not releasing any singles prior to album release. No leaks, I want people to enjoy every song on the album as a whole. So only leaks available is background music while I’m in the studio recording which I’ve posted on social media. However, “Causing Traffic” seem like it might be my first single off the album.

Tal’s Cafe is slated to June 10, 2020. For more info, visit his official website at DoughTheFreshKid.com and follow him on social media here: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube. - BallerStatus.com

"Dough the Freshkid Talks New EP "Tal's Cafe""

California rapper Dough The Freshkid is one of the premiere artists coming out of west coast. As he rolled out his latest project Tals Cafe today, It is clear that his talent is unmatched and superb. I had the pleasure of catching up with the hotshot for a quick interview to discuss his new project and inspiration.

Respect: What city do you rep?

Dough: I am from Crenshaw District Arlington of California.

Respect: At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music?

Dough: I was around 13 years old when my homeboy asked me to write a rap for him for the school talent show and he ended up winning.

Respect: Has your upbringing played a role in shaping who you are and defining your sound today? If so, how?

Dough: Absolutely. I was born back east and raised a G on the West which, gave me an open range on sounds and culture.

Respect: How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?

Dough: I consider myself a street-conscious MC. I have a classic 90s Hip-Hop sound mixed with some of today’s sound. Most of my music production includes heavy bass instruments, classic pianos and soul samples.

Respect: What ultimately inspired you to dedicate yourself to a music career?

Dough: I live music on a daily, I am music, it’s not a career to me it’s a lifestyle. So, I said, “Why not get paid for it?” and show the whole world how gifted I am.

Respect: What’s one reason you are passionate about music and what inspires you?

Dough: I was born in Gary, Indiana on Jackson street where the great Michael Jackson lived. That played a major part of it. I am inspired by the outcome of the music I create; I love to continue to challenge myself each project. I’m actually a big fan of myself.

Respect: Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?

Dough: I love watching old movies from the ‘60s and ‘70s. I’m a big kid so I’m looking for that PS5 to drop, and I love working out staying healthy.

Respect: Who are some of your main musical influences?

Dough: My influences are some of the veterans like Ice Cube, Nas, Jay-Z , Biggie, Pac, 50 Cent, and Redman. I also pay attention to Kendrick Lamar, J.Cole, the late great Hussle and all my brothers from the Crenshaw District and my brothers in NY.

Respect: What are some of your music career goals for the future?

Dough: Continue to build my brand where I’m respected as a major and hopefully connected with a major on a Distribution partnership.

Respect: Tell us about the latest project that you’ve released? What is it about?

Dough: Tal’s Café is my latest project (album) that is out today. It’s simply about bringing the hustle aspect back into the game. We got way too many people glorifying junkies in Hip-Hop these days. Never get high on yo own supplies.

Respect: What are some projects you’ve done that you are most proud of and why?

Dough: I’m proud of all three of my projects that I’ve released through stores. I have a few mixtapes that are on DatPiff that you can’t sleep on either. Arlington Avenue, Black Rome and Tal’s Café demonstrates and shows my supporters the range I have when it comes to composing albums. Each of these albums speak of times that we currently live in. I write movies!

Respect: What’s next for you?

Dough: I’m writing in my head as we speak. I also have a title idea but, I am going to hold on to it for a while. I don’t want nobody biting my style lol.

Respect: What message do you hope fans take away from your music?

Dough: That I’m original and that I’m not concerned about what people thing about me. I’ll put my message out there regardless if it’s mainstream or not. I don’t play by the rules; I create my own rules. As Frank Sinatra said “I did it my way.”

Respect: Where can we find you on social media?

Dough: You can find me on Instagram @doughthefreshkid, and on twitter @doughfreshkid. You can also find me on Spotify, Youtube and Apple music by typing in Dough The Freshkid. - Respect-Mag.com
