Biography

Duane Stailey, a fourth generation Texan, was born near Wolfe City, TX. Duane's love for country music led him to begin singing and playing the guitar at the early age of eight. By the age of ten Duane, who lived so far out in the country that there were no other children to play with, began composing and singing songs to his brother's dairy heifers. Growing up, Duane performed at local school and social functions.

Since the beginning, Duane's music has been influenced by Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, Jr., David Allan Coe and Bob Seger, as well as other country music legends. Traces of these talented musicians are echoed in Duane's unique lyrical and vocal style.

Duane lived in Nashville for a time, touring and recording with David Frizzell from 1995-1997, and partnered with Ricca Records from 1997-1999. Missing his family and home, Duane moved back to northeast Texas and took some time off to redirect his music and his career by writing new songs and reworking others into Texas style music.

His wide, ear-pleasing vocal range, original lyrics, sense of humor, and fun-loving personality has made him an audience favorite wherever he performs. Past performances include Ernest Tubb's Midnight Jamboree in Nashville, Tennessee, the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville, Tennessee, and a five state tour (Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Kansas) with the Hastings Book Video and Music Store chain. Duane has shared the stage with Johnny Paycheck, Mark Chesnutt, Eleven Hundred Springs, Ed Burleson, Stoney LaRue, and many others. Duane was also chosen to play at the Austin City Limits Revue at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, TX.

When asked about his music Duane says, "I just want to write and sing about everyday folks living a normal life". Duane may be an ordinary man living a normal everyday life, but his talents are truly extraordinary, especially his rare and amazing vocal range and his love of performing for and entertaining a live audience. Whether you are a pure die-hard country fan, a rocker, or enjoy soft soulful songs, you are sure to be pleased with the talent and showmanship of Duane Stailey.
