Dubway

Dubway was formed in late 2004, after discussions about wanting to form a band that’s main function was to get a crowd going. The music was to be energetic and uplifting, always with a positive message and from the first get together songs began to take shape. Between 2004 and 2006, the band enjoyed many successes; three songs play-listed on TUKS fm, two videos achieving rotation on MK, the track Judgement finding a place on the SA Rock Chart on TUKS fm, appearances on television shows including, Amp and Petrolkop, playing Oppikoppi 2006, a track on the compilation Mode of Obscurity(SA Bands tribute to Depeche Mode).

After a three year break the guys got back together and five months after reforming, The original four monkey men were back together, improved by the strength of having Darren on board. The five gelled together and the new songs flourished as the old songs found a new life.

2011 has been nothing less than blessing after blessing for Dubway. The first highlight of the year was winning the 2011 Klipdrift battle of the bands. Another major highlight was being invited to play at the STRAB festival in Mozambique.

Another highlight for the band was hooking up with producer, Larry Pullen, to begin work on the eagerly awaited album. The band also became involved with the organizing and performing at the Come Alive Festival.
