The Lonely Stories

Written By: Duffey Westlake

Passing through the sleepless years in waves of frozen air
Succumbing to delerium, reach for what isn't there
Cages keeping company for creatures on the floor
Exhausted strength all to prepare to break through an open door

Voices travel into the cold
Passing over the sea
Falling into another world
The lonely stories need to be told

A full length mirror's image of the frailty of bones
No longer safe to elements like slowly sinking stones
Gasping for what little breath the numbing force will steal
A wrinkle found in skin before its time will never heal

Voices echo inside their heads
Swallowed up by the sea
Falling off of the deepest end
The lonely stories need to be said...

Watching the images come floating up to the surface
Letting all feelings go to think that this is possible
Keeping all proimises and picking up all the pieces
Letting emotions flow to see something so beautiful

Voices travel into the cold
Passing over the sea
Falling into another world
So lonely

Watching the images come floating up to the surface
Letting all feelings go to think that this is possible
Salvaging promises and picking up all the pieces
Letting emotions flow to see something so beautiful

Wasted Words

Written By: Duffey Westlake

Many times I've tried to see it from your side
But I'm the one that's right and you could not be more wrong
I'm sick of playing dumb when you're the stupid one
Take your twisted tongue, bite down

All the same
There's nothing I can say to make you change
All these wasted words have all been said in vain
All the same
I've decided to blow out the flame
All these wasted words have ended in your name

If this is self abuse, then you need no excuse
To tighten your own noose around all of your precious dreams
How's it meant to be? You're all but dead to me
It's my catastrophe, all mine

All the same
There's nothing I can say to make you change
All these wasted words have all ben said in vain
All the same
I've decided to blow out the flame
All these wasted words have ended in your name

How's it meant to be? You're all but dead to me
It's my catastrophe, all mine

All the same
There's nothing I can say to make you change
All these wasted words have all been said in vain
All the same
I've decided to blow out the flame
All these wasted words have ended in your name

Cliff Notes

Written By: Duffey Westlake

I want to jump, feel my body go numb
Before it collides with earth
Free my soul from this suffering
The stars are so bright tonight
A perfect backdrop for this sacrifice
Giving up...

This last step seems too easy to take
The feelings a dream, but I'm wide awake
No one here to keep me back
So why should I stop myself
Giving up...

Just let me fly
Just let me fly
Don't ask me why
Just let me fly

My legs keep me from the edge
I'm stuck to the ground like the boulders beside me
My head gives way to reason
My chest gives way to emotion
Giving up...

This brilliant act of freedom
Seems too selfish now
I want to go home

Broken Cliché

Written By: Duffey Westlake

April was born in June of '82
Growing up is tough but she looked up to you
Judging by the weather the best things in life never last
You were always together, but that's all in the past

There came a day when her parents moved away
Your folks were soon to follow; 3 years was all you could take

Bring April flowers in the meantime
And show her you still care
And may showers wash away all
Thoughts of the last few years

Turning into teens was really something else
Shared your first kiss and your first something else
But then in early summer your lives forever changed
The cancer overwhelmed her; you stopped belief in fate

You watched her fade and deteriorate
There's nothing you can do except help her through the pain

Bring April flowers in the meantime
And show her you still care
And may showers wash away all
Thoughts of the last few years

April died last night with you right by her side
Along with your child, who kissed her mom goodnight

One day you must explain why her mother can't be here
To watch her growing up and help dry her daughter's tears
But as she looks down, she knows you'll be ok
And if you could hear her now, she'd have just one thing to say

To bring her flowers in the meantime
And show her you still care
And may showers wash away all
Thoughts of the last few years
Bring April flowers in the meantime
And show her you still care
And may showers wash away all
Thoughts of the last few years
