Bio

“New“, “Something different“, “International“. These are the words you hear when people are talking about ‘Duke and the Sheltics’. Many astonished critics in the crowd have to admit, the style and the power of the young new urban group is very impressing.
‘Duke’ and his crew, the back-up rapper ‘Matt’, the beatboxer ‘Steffe la Cheffe’ and the violin player ‘Felix’ became a formation which is able to entertain all kind of audience in all different places.
Supported by the soul like singer Lenell ‘Lennie’ Brown and the female singer ‘Lia Cornelle’ the crew gets very eccentric and most of all convincing towards everyone who’s listen to the profound songs.
The two DJs ‘Stev-e’ and ‘Turntill’ are guiding the live performances behind the wheels.

The lyrics, all exclusively from main-brain and front man Duke’s – aka ‘Duckz’ – quill, are utterly sensitive and, at times, melancholic or sensual.
Duke, former break-dancer and active basketball player, started in the early 90’s as an apprentice in the noble art of rapping. He wrote his first lines and rhymes around the year 1995 and he’s been tirelessly trying to compose and improve his songs on a daily basis, he’s been working in the studio on beats and recordings and has also been the main man in managing all pendent works and tasks ever since 2000!
In his lyrics, he often raps about his lifestyle, his past and he tends to stick to the facts of life in his writings. Mere outward appearances are secondary to him, since he prefers putting all his energies into the quality of his work rather than wasting them on trifling pleasures. Duke focuses on achieving his aims and fulfilling his visions.

In 2001 Duke founded ‘the Sheltics’, which is a huge organized show group and band that makes it possible to cope with big performances even on the most challenging stages. Included in the Sheltics show and bigband are the musicians Theo (guitar), Tom (bass), Didi (piano), Tom (drums) and spectacular interludes with breakdance actors and irish tap dancers – who can all be booked, depending on size of the stage and budget of the gig.
It goes without saying that the main man Duke and his backup rapper «Matt», together with their DJs and background vocals, will (and repeatedly have) also rock any crowd with their smaller band line-up.

Duke’s production and debut album « Diary Scraps » has been delayed constantly because of different considerable complications concerning to the quality of the production, is now about to get done. Duke was involved in producing and co-producing the 58 tracks and is now about to finish the work which will appear in january 2009. The single « Hard days » incl. The videoclip to the song was judged as “mature performance” by the critics and will be available on the market around august 2008
Duke works on a qualitatively high and admittedly eccentric level. Almost all components from his songs have been recorded with live instruments – a real rarity in today’s’ hip-hop / R&B scene.
