Bio

Duke Davis assembled the Buckshot Band in 1979 in California. Some notable musicians that have served tenure with the band are Byron Berline, Vince Gill, Thumbs Carlisle, Jay Dee Mannes, Steve Duncan, Skip Edwards and Heather Miles. Some of Duke’s former band members have gone on to play with Garth Brooks, Dwight Yoakum and the Desert Rose Band. Duke and the boys have received awards and nominations from the Country Music Associations of America, California Country Music Association, Western Music Association, Academy of Western Artists and the Music Industry Coalition having received awards for Band of the Year (1988), Bass Player of the Year (1984), Male Vocalist the Year (1987, 1988), Folk Song of the Year (1999) and Best Produced Country Song (1996). Duke was selected as the Official Cowboy Poet Laureate of the Santa Clarita valley in California in 1993 and has published a book of original Cowboy Poetry. In 2005, the band charted a #1 song in Western Swing Music entitled “Texas Moon” from their “Blue Texas Sky” album. They are currently touring the US with their stage production “Westward Ho!” which is a theatrical, musical one act play that chronicles the history of Western Music. The 90 minute, 27 song show is being received enthusiastically and receiving standing ovations everywhere. In 2008, the band will enter their fourth season of performing at the Happy Trails Chuck Wagon Dinner Show in Breckenridge, Colorado from June to Labor Day. The current band roster consists of Duke Davis on Acoustic Standup Bass and Guitar, Luke Tripp on Fiddle and Mandolin, and Jimmy Lee Robbins on Guitar, Banjo and Lap Steel.
