Bio
Duke Michaels is a singer, songwriter, musician, and producer. He and his wife, Peggy Baldwin, own their own Publishing Company, "BSSB Music-No Bullshit Music", and Recording Studio in LA. Duke works independently as a composer for iSolve.Inc., a multidisciplinary creative firm with a top reputation for building interactive content for feature films and is a free lance jingle composer/producer.
He recently finished co-producing a CD with his wife, Peggy Baldwin, who is a professional cellist in the LA area. The CD is available on CDBaby and ITunes and songs from this CDcontinue being forwarded through TAXI. They are currently playing together in local LA clubs - cello and guitar - to help promote sales of CD. Duke is also busy producing his own alternative country CDand just finished recording his bass and drum tracks with the Bissonette brothers. Yes, Matt and Greg. They seem to play on just about everything. Duke is now busy tracking violin, mandolin, banjo, and pedal steel at the moment and will be hiring a Producer/Mixer with a Pro Tools HD/ Neve Board studio set up to mix finishing touches on his songs before the end of this year. Duke loves digital but nothing beats running signal through good old vintage analog gear.
The alt country tracks currently uploaded are all rough demos which are being recrafted either lyrically or musically at this time using feedback from TAXI as a barometer. 14 new songs will be on this album and they are really sounding great which includes complete new and enhanced versions of the three songs uploaded in his artist profile. Don't get to used to these versions or you won't recognize them . Lotta Heart is now Shotgun Smile which has a completely different chorus musically and lyrically and is now quite the little barn burner. I love this job and Easy To Love have both been improved. Musically by adding more punch and definition. Lyrically by focusing lyrics on selling the chorus and making sure that the chorus can stand by itself and still tell the whole story.
Duke plans on going out to Nashville for a month at a time to promote himself once his CD is complete and putting a band together in LA.
