Bio

Los Angeles-based songwriting partners Dukes & Gannon have been crafting their sound for the last ten years, and actively navigating the live circuit as a four and five-piece band since spring 2003. The Gunpowder Waltz (produced by Ian Dukes) is an independently released effort launched in the summer of 2004. The disc is packed tightly with eleven songs about relationships, men, women, love, and relationships that clocks in just above a half hour and rekindles the torch brightly lit by great American artists like Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson.

To help pay the bills and fund their main endeavor, Andrew Gannon and Ian Dukes have composed original music for New Line Cinema's "Rush Hour 2" and "Blow" official movie web sites, as well as for the A&E Biography shows, "Dr. Seuss," "Georgia O'Keefe," "Patty Duke" and "Jack London." The Dukes & Gannon EP Six Shooter (2000) was the first release by music mogul Al Teller's online record label initiative, Atomic Pop, just in time for the dot com Internet implosion to claim D&G as unwitting victims in the fallout. No matter, though, as The Gunpowder Waltz is leaps and bounds above its predecessor in terms of vision and execution, and goes to show that as the old heroes of American songwriting pass away, younger musicans must rise to fill their places.
