Dunashay and the Clockwork Wizards

Dunashay Thomas entered The University of North Texas in the Fall of 07. He had been writing music reflecting his topsy-turvy life since he had learned the guitar. Now that he was at one of the best schools in the world for musicians he found it imperative to network and meet other musicians like himself. At UNT's orientation he met a bass player named Greg Beach. They discussed their influences and hit it off almost like they were meant to be. Greg Beach, being a jazz major, learned of Zachary Ferris through various musicians and they had started to hang out. The three of them played acoustically at a house party and the stars aligned. The party went quiet, all attention was on the 3 new friends. After that show, the three members discussed starting a band and Zack called up the drummer from his last band, Luke Angle. The 4 played at every club and coffee shop in town until their name was well-known enough that other bands and venues would call and request them to play. After they had built up a raport in Denton they ventured to surrounding cities: Mckinney, Frisco, Plano, Deep Ellum, Ft. Worth.

People would flock to their shows because, unlike many pop bands in the area, no two shows are ever alike. The band has between 20-30 original songs and because of the jam style the songs' tempo, style, or feel could change drastically from night to night. Every segue from song to song is seemless and improvised with such skill that many believe it is prepared. At any given show, one will hear a DCW original followed by an ethereal jam that builds into a haunting, heavy wall of sound that climaxes with a familiar melody (could be Summertime, could be Another Brick in the Wall, it is always a surprise). A song may start out with touches of Stevie Wonder but by the end of the song one will hear a Frank Zappa influence and a Buena Vista Social Club influence.

Our passion is Lady Music. We believe whole-heartedly that one needs not words but music to explain the most complex of feelings (i.e. love, hate, fear, loneliness). We hope to bring the audience to tears, make them rise up out of their chairs, feel compelled to scream, dance, shake it. Our music is meant to influence, open up the mind, be the rebirth of talented musicians since Miley Cyrus and Disney seem dead set on replacing talent with the specific look that is desired.
