Duncan McDonald & The Great Gavalan recorded and released a self-titled LP this past summer - produced by Mike Lent (K.D. Lang, Jann Arden).
Aside from being the band’s first full-length release, the album also acts as the soundtrack to North America’s first on-line abstract musical. The entire production is comprised of original music, story, and artwork (new and traditional media) and is currently being released scene by scene at www.theGreatGavalan.com
The band has also recorded several demo tracks and continues to do so on a regular basis.

Bio
Duncan McDonald is a singer/songwriter who has played throughout Canada in a wide variety of bands and as a solo artist. His prolific songwriting ability, and unique vocal quality have earned him many accolades and secured his position as a mainstay on the Alberta music scene.
Throughout the past 10 years Duncan, in some incarnation, has opened for such acts as Moist, Spirit of the West, Rhymes with Orange, Zuckerbaby The GandHarvas, Richard Wood and J.P. Cormier, and has played at many major venues in Calgary including the Jack Singer Concert Hall, the Canadian Airlines Saddledome, and at the Calgary Stampede GrandStand.
Duncan has now teamed up with some of Western Canada’s greatest musicians to form The Great Gavalan, a band that was meant to be together from the beginning. The group is backed by the powerhouse rhythm section of Rob Vulic (Drums) and Kodi Hutchinson (Bass), then layered with one of the most innovative style-makers on guitar, Craig McCaul, and finally glued together with Duncan’s original acoustic playing and vocal style. The result is a totally natural invention. Their contemporary roots rock style blends fresh melodies with thoughtfully constructed, powerful tunes that take the listener on a journey from the show’s first note.

Though comfortable in the studio, the stage is where the band belongs. They believe that performing live is what every band needs to evolve into whatever they are supposed to be. Until now, they have stuck around Alberta, but are ready to take their music to the outside world.
Duncan McDonald and The Great Gavalan are professional, easy-going and easy to work with. Their ability to connect with any audience, along with their good-natured, upbeat and positive approach to each performance make them a welcome addition to any stage.
